after comtech s/c install, ecu is confused

I just had installed a brand new comptech s/c,
instead of +80 to 100 added hp, I have a drop
off of 20hp overall (sad but true). The dyno shows
the drop off at 4000 to 6000 rpm. this is below the
VTEC take off at 6600 or so. the vtec doesn't really
engage.

The installer is competent. His advice is drive the car
for a week or so and see if the stock ecu wakes up
and resets itself to take advantage of the new boost.
(dyno shows the boost is flat and steady at +5 psi).
I did have an apexi installed. it was disconnected
because Comptech suggested a return to a clean
ecu configuration before making mods.

does anyone have experience with an ecu reset/re-flash
or this type of occurrence ?

That is a weird reaction to boost. Is it just dumping fuel and running way too rich? You might try disconnecting the battery for a minute then reconnecting and run the car hard to set the ecm for a new fuel map. Good luck.

an easier way to reset the ecu is to look at the fuse panel under the dash and pull the fuse thats all the way to the left and second fuse down. Also what was your max whp you made?

my peak hp was 205 before the s/c

now it is 180 or so

i disconnected the battery and then ran it a little hard.

it seemed to improve, but had some hestitation in the 5 to 7
thousand rpm range. i do feel an increase in hp in my butt.
but the system is not yet stable.

sugesstions??

youre only making 180?????????? Something is very wrong and its not that your ecu needed to be reset. A good installer/tuner would have told you that. Have you hooked a wideband up to it yet?

Do you know how many actual PSI you're running? I mean an actual reading from a gauge, not just what it says in the install manual. This could give an indication for a boost leak or spikes.

I know for a FACT that the last year of production of the S2000 is 2003!!!!!
After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.
