Post Supercharging what steps to take to not lose a motor

Ok here we go i have heard that once you boost that you might as well also spend the money on a new motor too. I really don't want to lose a motor i really don't have the money to buy a motor and redo the mods that i have done. So what steps should i take in order to not lose it. I have cold air intake, custom exhaust, header, tower strut bar in the front and a koyorad radiator. I am planning on doing internals or going for boost. What steps should i take to not blow it with boost or is it ultimantly a lost cause and should i just go strait up internals.

well mileage and PSI would be the kicker on anything. under 100k and under 10psi you should be safe unless u added sand and saw dust to evey oil change the S has forged internals which are by no means a joke. Just remember boost does add extra wear (makes the like 2 liters act like big boys)!!!!!

If you plan to boost you car you have several choices. Run a mild boost and do no modifications. However in all cases you will need to throw away your air intake. I do not believe in spending the kind of money it takes to ad forced induction and not get at least twice the original power. So Carrillo rods, flat pistons and reduce the compression to about 8 to 1. And run at least 15 lbs boost. A new clutch, Quaiffe differential and what ever else it takes not to so that nothing breaks as a result of sustained brutal driving.

I ran a Comptech (without aftercooling) at just under 8 psi for 67,000 miles. Without motor modifications it got 315 whp. I was very happy with that.

For three years I put about three track days per month and for the year prior and after that period I put about 1+ track days per month. I did need to have the compressor rebuilt the year before I sold it.

Found a used S/C on Craiglist a few weeks ago and gave it some thought. About an extra 100hp. But after hearing about the clutch other power gain issues, too much work and $$.

Why are the only alternatives huge hp gains or the agrueable claims from AEM air cleaners or Invidia exhaust systems (which I am inately skeptical of)? Isn't there something in between? Something that gives a clear power increase, without the probs associated with a 50% power gain?

How about 25-50hp? Is that too much or too little to ask?

Honda is pulling more horses out of a non sc'd engine than any other car. 240 hp out of 2 litres doesn't leave much room to improve, but it seems everyone thinks 150 miles per hour aint enough. You can either super/turbo or fit a larger engine. The most logical thing is to change the gearing.

Sure, I understand the S2000 amazing hp->displacement ratio. Still, motorheads rarely run stock for very long. I guess an s/c and a light foot is the way to go.

^ As long as you don't beat it to bad, stock items should last.

for about 50 hp get a turbo kit then run an FMU with a 5psi spring in ur wastegate instead of a stand alone computer and bigger injectors you wont get 400hp but you won't have to rebuild the motor and your motor will last pretty close to as long as stock. This is what I did to my S but 7psi is the most I could run without it running too lean but I made 320 to wheels with this setup so you have a lot to work with.

ap1+ c-t s/c=nice

i have an ap1 s2k with 93000 miles on it. I purchased a used comptech kit with the aftercooler, it truely is amazing. It doesnt make the car SH** your pants fast but it gives it that extra umpf that most people think it should have from the factory, I had absolutely no problems untill one day. I was driving down this road here in the industrial park and saw the owner of the shop that does all the tuning in my area, He drives a 1st gen corola hatch gutted and superchaged etc.. he owns a tuner shop so basically everything is done to this car. Anyway.. I was driving, and pulling up on him, and thought to myself, this kit has not given me any problems let me go for it, so we messed around did a couple of quick runs, needless to say by the time i got home my rear end was ruined. so 2200 bucks later here I am... New comptech re-inforced housing, a set of cryo'ed 4.10's from hardtopguy, a kaaz 1.5 way lsd, and some new bearings. the S has a glass rear end, If going forced induction I would definately reccomend beefing up the rear end, Some people are going to say Well ive got this and Ive got that and no rear end problems, and I am sure theres people who have seen an S running 600 hp on a stock rear end somewhere, but its not typical Be careful. Do lots of research, and decide what your s2000 is going to do, and where its going to be in 1 year, 5 years and the future. thanks. matthew

I know for a FACT that the last year of production of the S2000 is 2003!!!!!
After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.
