Rob;
Ya godda turn down the salesman a tad. You're on a model-specific site. Most of us have a pretty good inklin' what the unit on the block has as standard equipment.
Simply throwin' the same blurb in the direction of our site that'cha put in the local paper doesn't impress me as anything but a "lets-get-it-unloaded" attitude.
You're fishin' a model-specific site ya godda "change the rules".
Be well.

I remember when I used to be a car sales consultant all of 6 months ago.

Welcome to my hell which vehicle can I get you information on? The s2000 excellent choice id be happy to get you all the information along with estimates on down payment monthly payments and figures on you car before you leave today. Fair enough? What are you currently driving? In order to save some time why dont we start by getting some information off of your vehicle so while we are picking out your new vehicle yours can be professionally appraised. Follow me.

Great the hard parts over we selected a vehicle that is perfect for you now all we need to do is figure out a way for you to pay for it. Based on the vehicle you selected and the fair market value of your vehicle we put together 9 monthly payments and 9 lease payments so all you will need to do is circle the payment that works best for you sign right here and I will get your vehicle ready for Immediate delivery.

Then ya stare at them until they talk. They object and say oh well the price is to high. Then I belittle them by saying well remember that base model I suggested earlier that would def lower the price for you. Then they say they were looking for more discount and i say get the f out and we argue for a while then I make fun of them in the managers office I come out with a number higher then their offer and we start all over again. Thus why I swing hammers now. It can be good money but its not worth it.

I was an architect for 19 years before this. I respect anyone who can put up with the construction industry. I decided about 6 months ago to change professions and go with my passion, automobiles, and specifically Lotus. My wife wouldn't move to Atlanta or Hethel (england) so I had to turn down job offers from Lotus and instead took this position with the largest volume Lotus dealer in the US. WHat's really funny is I designed the showroom 2 years ago and now I work here.

s200isu,

I was taught all those high pressure tactics but what I love about where I'm at is I don't need to use them. This is a very low pressure environment. I get to really get to know each buyer and I don't have to "play games". It's a nice change of pace from the crap I dealt with in construction. I was offered a management position at a regional Honda dealer but it's a Mill (350 units a month). I just couldn't bring myself to loose that one on one contact with the customer.

Again, sorry about coming off like an A$$. I promise to behave from now on.

Aaay Bob, lighten up, nothin' worth apologizin' for n' the way we bounce each other aroun', I don't expect that too many on site r' that thin-skinned as to take offense.
But I godda tell ya, readin' your later posts r' a whole lot more appealin' than the initial one.
One thing that ya left out though . . n' nobody on site'll think the less of ya for it . . are ya drivin' a Lotus?
If you are, n' you've also had any Stewie time, you could be a good source of comparison info for us, should you feel so inclined.
But, S2000, Elise, Miata, Mustang . . the drivin's the thing, ain't it?
Be well.

I've owned a few Lotuses including a new Elise (2005, Laser Blue). I need more seat time in an S2000 to give a good comparasion but I've been told that the car which comes the closest to the Elise in the US is the S2000.

Lets test your lotus skills It was used in a certain model lotus but thats not what im building it for. It was also in a isuzu impulse rs with lotus suspension. So which lotus and what motor is it?

It was used in the M100 Elan built between 1989 and 1992 in series 1 form and later in 1994/5 in Series 2 trim. It featured an Isuzu built engine which was available in both normally asperated and turbocharged forms. The engine was shared with several vehicles ranging from the Impulse and Stylus in the Isuzu line-up to the Geo Storm. Great engines which have proven to be very reliable. Some M100s have seen 150k plus miles without a rebuild. There have been shift linkage problems, however.

The M100 was Lotuses only FWD car and featured a unique floating raft suspension system which eliminated the tourque steer isues usually associated with FWD vehicles. Many people consider the Elan as the fastest point A to B car ever produced. It was designed to be able to be driven by 90% of drivers to 90% of it's abilities, 90% of the time (according to then Managing director and now CEO Mike Kimberley).

The car suffered in the US as introduction was made at the beginning of a recession. It also was beaten to the US market by the Mazda Miata which also hurt sales. Roughly 500 units were imported in 1991. 2 federal cars were imported in 1992 to Canadian dealers before the car was cancelled by GM.

Nice work. That is correct its a 4xe1wt 1.6 liters of dohc fury lol. How would you like that one in a lotus? From 160 crank hp or so in a tiny light car to about 350 crank hp muuuhaha

It would probably destroy the balance in an Elan. I doubt the suspension would be able to put all that power to the ground. The Tourque steer would be awful. That said, in an Elise........................
