wheel size??

I wanna put 18"s on my S2000, but im afraid they will rub. I had a 1999 civic SI lowered with 18s and it rubbed bad. since theres no need to lower the S, i just wanna make sure there are no problems with 18's. Or shouold I stick with 17's?

If your not planning on lowering the S then 18's shouldnt be a problem with the right widths & offsets.

Rick;
If you're jus' interested in takin' it out on really smooth roads n' not hammerin' it with the included surprises that speed on public roads brings, then by all means go 18s. Lower it. Dress it in carbon fibre n' a sombrero. It's not gonna matter n' you won't be upsettin' anythin'.
(Oh, I left out drivin' with some chippie throwin' candy from it in the 4th of July parade.)
But if you're gonna hammer it on public roads, you're better off with the extra sidewall that the 17s'll give you, the ground clearance to be able to straddle a man-hole cover without leavin' it's impression on your underside from fpre to aft n' the already restricted suspension offered by a stock Stewie.
So, bottom line: you wanna show car, you can bronze it n' hang it from the mirror in your Escalade, nothin's gonna upset a hardtail Stewie that really isn't driven hard.
You actually wanna let it loose n' drive it? You don't wanna restrict the suspension.
And yes. This, again, is the word accordin' to Java. (Personal opinion for the uninitiated.)
Be well, good luck n' keep us posted however you decide to go.

P.S. There's nothin' quite as crotch-tensionin' as comin' over a rise n' seein' a bad section'a road when you know that your tires're gonna be rubbin' the hard parts. If I hadda guess I'd say the torque wrench was preset for about 300 foot pounds.

18's are fine on a lowered S as long as you have the correct offsets. I have 18's on mine and I am tucked in the rear.

My wheel sizes are:
Front- 18 X 8 +51 225/40/18
Rear- 18 X 9 +63 245/35/18

I know for a FACT that the last year of production of the S2000 is 2003!!!!!
After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.

yea, I had a 35 series sidewall on my 99 SI and i popped tires all the time. but I like the tires to fill up the fender space. of course leaving the car JDM and keeping 16" wheels on it would perform the best, But I like it to look americanized a lil. lol

aw, just go ahead and put 28 inchers on it and jack it up 3 feet and make it 4 wheel drive...after all that's Honda really wanted, right?

My 18's rub in the front on hard dips. They are fine in the back. I have OZ Superleggeras. Personally, I think the 18's look too big on the front. Get an upclose look at another S with 18's before you get them. And definitely make sure they are the correct offset.

Rick, the major item on the wheel's ability to not rub is takin' into account the wheel size, width n' most importantly, the necessary offset that a wheel of that size and width requires.
Owners get talked (Or, more often, get sucked in, drool runnin' down their chin, by pure, godda-geddit lust over brains) into wheels that jus' simply were never meant to fit Stewie.
Looks r' important to alodda folks, bu'cha jus' can't disregard the correct offset with Stewie.
We haven't got the wide spectrum of wheels that other car owners do. 'Fraid it comes with the exclusivity of the breed.
Stick to the wheel size table that, I'm pretty sure is posted on all the S2000 sites.
Be well.
