A bunch of AP2 console questions... I need help for a flawless conversion!

Hey guys, I recently purchased an AP2 console for my MY03 S2000, and I'm looking to get the console back to tip-top shape before installing it. I am having trouble getting the sliding door to close once it is opened. The sliding motion itself is relatively unencumbered, but the locking process does not work as desired. When I slide the cupholder door against the locking mechanism, the small plastic protrusion that is normally held by the button's latch will not seat at all. It looks like the cupholder door release button raises too high in its socket and does not allow the aforementioned protrusion to slide up the angled latch. Is there a good way to adjust the button or is something fundamentally wrong with the unit? As is, I can get the door to latch, but only if I simultaneously push the release button partially down while sliding the door into place and then releasing the button. Obviously, this isn't ideal.

Also, there appears to be a small amount of yellow spray paint on the plastic part of the console. Is there a good way to remove spray paint from this kind of plastic?

Lastly, what is the material used for the MY03 shift boot (I have an AP1 console from which I might harvest the shift boot) and the MY04-05 shift boot? Are either of them leather or both vinyl? I might want to recover the elbow pad with some JPM Coachworks leather or alcantara. What is the best method of padding the armrest? Can I ask them to pad it in addition to installing?

Thanks in advance.

JPM will add padding if you request it and will do the install if you send them your armrest. It is a pretty easy DIY, though.

That's a great howto. Thanks a bunch. I had been looking at another one, but this is just EXACTLY what I need to do. Unfortunately, I am still buggered about the cupholder door. Can anyone help?

Guys, I'd love to be able to fix this thing up to install tomorrow. I'm sorry to be a bumping freak, but if anyone has some insight into how to adjust the latch, I'd greatly appreciate it. Here are some pictures. Sorry if they're massive, I couldn't scale it without losing a tremendous amount of image clarity.

Because Honda changed the console color in later cars. The 04's had silver, my 08 has a carbon fiber pattern...enough people complained about reflections from the silver cover they changed it.

I don't believe there's really a way to adjust the latch. If anything, probably the only thing you can change is the guide rails for the cover.

I can't get to the site from work but go to www.hondaautomotiveparts.com and use the parts finder. You should be able to find a parts breakdown which will show you the parts available. That might give you an idea of what can be changed.
