Lack of storage
My 2006 has storage areas in each door panel, and directly in front of the passenger's knees. But has anyone found anything useful to do with them? They are so tiny. I can't even fit my eye glass cases in any of them. And that is what I need most, is a place for my eye glasses (two pair: sunglasses, and night driving, both prescription). Center console area is a bit of a pain, as I usually keep that locked up (iPod lives there).

You can put a hard glasses case with a velcro backing under the front part of the driver seat velcroed to the floor. You only need to reach between your legs (get your minds out of the gutter people) to reach them. The velcro should keep the case from moving around. I keep a set of gloves there. Another pair can be clipped to the sunvisor.

Droppin' into li'l Stewie from a bigger vehicle (n' that's 'most all of 'em, ain't it?) is a tough transition.
Movin' up to the spaciousness of Stewie from my years of bikin' had me wonderin' what to do with all the space (please note the use of the past tense, as with those fish that grow to the size of their tanks, I seem to have "adjusted"). Everything's relative. Bj, I can't see ka-ka without my specs anymore, so I can appreciate the need. I'm sure you've already thought of it, but contacts aren't an option? Failing to come up with a solution in the cockpit, maybe a compartmented bag in the trunk is the way to go. It allows for all the stuff that would otherwise be flyin' aroun' the cockpit when things get, shall we say, interesting? Gives you room for glasses (back-ups), different gloves, visored baseball caps, light, mist-proof jackets, well, I'm sure that you've your own ideas on how to make use of it, if that's an option. Be well. Java

Thanks guys. I like the velcro idea. Contacts are not an option (fortunately my vision is not bad enough to have a license restriction, but I much prefer to drive with glasses on. Since vision is not that bad I do not want to deal with contacts, personal choice).

The front seat has enough room under it for a pretty big box of Kleenex. The seat will slide back and forth over it so I can only presume that you can fit a similar sized box there for all your "stuff".
My S has SOOO much more room for the little things than does my Miata - and there is simply no comparison in the trunk dept. That depression in the S is just the right size for a carry on bag which leaves the second level open for a couple of bigger suitcases. |

If you get a set of Scheyden glasses frames you can cut down on some of the cases. As the sunglass lenses spring up for night time and and hinge down, held with magnets during the day.

I don't recommend putting anything under or in front of the driver's seat seat without it being securely fastened. You don't want it breaking loose and getting wedged under one of your pedals - especially the brake pedal.
I generally keep my sunnies inside the cupholder whilst driving. If I leave the car I generally either take them with me, or lock them in the centre console. |
