I just got new speakers, an amp, and a subwoofer for my black 2002 S2000.
Anybody got any ideas on how to fit a 12" subwoofer into my car? I was thinking maybe where the spare tire is currently located. |

I've got mine put in the spare tire location. It's not a 12", but it fits nicely. Only problem is figuring out what to do with the spare, as it's not a great idea to travel far without one.
The other option is in the trunk. There is the recessed area where the scissor jack and tools go. You can pull that out and make a nice enclosure that fits perfectly flush in there. Every once in awhile, pre-made boxes in that style pop up on ebay.

I have a 10" diamond audio D3 where my tools were (the installer said a 12" would fit but it really comes down to music preference so if you listen to a lot of rap, techno or other thick beated music get the 12" which can produce lower frequencies and has a lazier performance, if you listen to more of the rock/pop style then go with something that will have faster transitional response to different frequencies like a 10" or less, the 10''s have less mass to move around and can keep up with faster music better than a larger could) capped with a carpeted fibreglass lid and you'd never know what was under there...til you feel it! Stuck the tools under the passenger seat. Powered by 300 rms watts, from 2 channels of my 4 channel Alpine PDX 4.150 amplifier. With the other 300 rms watts divided between my Diamond Audio D6 components, which are housed in Dynamated doors. CD's play on my ALPINE CDA-9857 (maintains use of the "steering wheel" controls), and has a direct connect for my MP3 player with a wire with a minijack running up through my center console through a small drilled hole, so I can slide that cover shut and my MP3 player is non existent. The system is tuned for tight, responsive, clean sound and it delivers. I have a few pics up in my bladerunner member gallery.
Auto Essentials in Thousand Oaks did all of the fabrication and installation. When they did my friends 2004 Corvette Z06, I knew that's where I wanted to go. |

hehehe old school ways of thinking are great. I have a 15" sub that could change your mind about the whole 10" sub thing. Its all in the box design. By the way I was just using that pos cv to make sure i had clearance with the hinge.
I currently run mb quart premium comps up front my hu is a jvc whcih im very impressed with for it being a jvc amp is a hifonics with rear channels bridged for the sub and the sub is a pg |
