Running lights...what running lights????

Saw a reference to "running lights" on the S a bit ago, and then today, while under the dash running wires for my radar detector...there was a slot in the fuse box for "(Running Lights)", although the fuse socket had no contacts in it. Why label the box, albeit with the label in parentheses, if the slot has no contacts?? Was this an option in the 2002??

Thoughts?

Possibly used for the Canadian models. I know cars in Canada had to have Day Time Running Lights before the US did.
