iPod connectivity?
I was going to order Honda Music Link from the dealer ship to get my iPod going with s2000's fun ride, i was doing my home work , found this review.
Honda Music Link iPod Adapter Review - nuxx.net according to the review, you don't really have a control. I have over 60GB worth of music library, and has about 6 main play list i would enjoy listening to while driving. according to the review, you do not have any control over playlists, it plays your album or songs randomly. on my x-type, i got this jaguar iPod connectivity module installed, (installing was realy bad experience, thanks to jag's high-tech fiber link), it plays top 4 playlists (cd1-4 button), play all songs or random (CD5), access option on iPod (CD6). after looking at review , you don 't really have that on hondas too. its not that hard and impossible to have full control via dock connector, why would company make things better for customer and end-user? anyhow is there any other iPod solution to the car besides crappy FM modulator? i'm just getting sick of changing cds well thanks, and thanks in advance. |

I have an Aplpine 9857 which will control dock style iPods. Its nearly as good as the iPod itself. I can play ANY playlist, or play by any artist, or album, or genre. The head unit is easy to install in an S2000. Run the iPod cable to the center globe box.
You can get wiring harness adpators here, and even get a kit to let the dashboard controls work on the Alpine: http://www.gofastlab.com/s2ki/home.php |

P.I.E. HON98/PC-POD 1998-2005 Honda-to-iPODŽ Interface
this is perfect!! thanx for the alpine info, but this one seems cheaper and affordable. in s2000's case, it could have up to 6 playlists. |

Hate to dig up an old thread, but I'm shopping for the same thing. The stock radio is just right for me because when things are quiet, I get music, when it's not, I'm hearing the things I want to, namely the engine and exhaust.
I used to have a Kenwood deck in the last car that played mp3 cds, but the convenience of an iPod would just be easier. Have you installed this PIE unit and if so, could you post a quick review of it's operation with your iPod? Thanks, Matt |

Try looking into USA spec
It's about $150 and have been working great. You just have to create 6 playlists of your choice and use the presets to pick them. Good luck

Found it here:
http://enfigcarstereo.com/shopsite_s...98_PC_POD.html for a good price. That's why I was curious. So I can use the cd button to switch tracks or playlists? Matt |

That's exactly who I bought mine from. Bunch of nice guys there because I originally ordered the Dice R3 unit that wasn't working properly and was recommended to try the USA Spec. They sent me a replacement with a return label the next day. And yes, you choose your playlists from your 6 radio present channels.

So, not to be a newb (although I am one), I've taken all the advice here, and defenestrated it.
I got this $100 gift card from apple for being duped into buying an iPhone, so I spent it on the Harmon Kardon Drive + Play. I'll keep ppl posted on the results. Matt |

the Drive and Play uses an FM transmitter. Works horribly by itself. There's an adapter for it that allows it to plug to the back of the radio via the antenna port, then the standard antenna would plug into the adapter. This works much better. Out of pocket, $29 for the adapter.
The whole thing's wired in now except for power, right now i have the cigarette lighter cord running to the "brain" behind the dash. The iPhone is in the glove box, and that's where its plugged in so I can leave it locked. Whole thing took about 2 hours. One hour to install it the first time in the trunk just to find out radio reception was junk. Then another hour to install the adapter and remount it behind the dash on the passenger side. |

Perfect = $$$$, my solution = $$. Not saying better or worse, but I do know this, you get what you pay for. I wasn't willing to pay for perfect.
I'll keep that setup in mind when I am ready to pay for perfect. Does the system work with the dash controls? |

The IDA-X001 is down to about $275 now. You need the modfry to make it work with the dash controls. However I never used them for the five minutes I had the stock radio in the car and now I temporally have my Rocky Mountain Radar speaker velcroed to the control knob until I do the final install.
