Suggestion with audio

Been driving my new s2k for just little over a month.
I love it, she's beautiful, there's just one problem.
The head unit is really annoying, I previous owned an rsxs and a sti, both had 6 cd changers. I am looking to put in a system into my car, head unit with mp3 playback, speakers, bass, etc. Any suggestions? I don't know how to install any of this, and do not trust my friend's handy work. I don't want to go crazy but I do love music, and I spend alot of time in traffic during the weekday, so a good audio system is key. The setup in the s2k is very tight, so please, I welcome anything info, advice etc

I have the stock head unit and the door speakers and tweeters that came in the '02 model. I also had trouble hearing my music at speed until I ordered a pair of S-Pods and had them installed at SacS2KDays II. It made ALL the difference. I have NO problem hearing my music now.

I know for a FACT that the last year of production of the S2000 is 2003!!!!!
After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.

Tight setup indeed. Amps are heavy and an important part of a quality system. That said the Alpine PDX series should be the official S2000 amplifier. NO JOKE. They are the newest addition to Alpine and are extremely efficient, powerful, compact and lightweight. Check them out! I may sound all hyped up and that's cause I am! These amps are so powerful! and not just for their size! period INSANE

The whole line up share the same exterior dimensions so you can stack them for multi amp applications. there's the PDX 1.1000 (single channel 1000watt rms mono digital amp), PDX 1.600 (single channel 600 watt rms mono digital amp), PDX 4.150(150 watts rms to each of the 4 channels with a built in digital crossover, i use this in my S2000 and it is ideal. I have 2 channels set to run my component speakers in the doors w/ aluminum tweeters, I don't use or need the headrest tweeters anymore, while the other 2 channels are bridged to run my "10 sub mounted where the tools once were with help from the crossover, all in the same amp!), PDX 4.100 (4 channel, 100 watts rms per channel with a built in digital crossover), and the PDX 2.150 (2 channel, 150 watts rms per channel with a built i digital crossover).

So, if your serious about your music and the weight of your car you'd be insane not to apreciate these amps. Even if weight isn't an issue these are still top of the line amps.

I had the shop Auto Essentials in Thousand Oaks, CA install everything and I'm happy. I was able to see they're work on my friends '04 ZO6 and was comfortable with them working on the Honda.

I would reccomend Alpine's head units as well, they're fully capable, easy to use and have a wide price range.

Not sure what year your s2k is but the oem headrest speakers from honda make a bid difference and they aren't hard to install at all and you still use the factory controlls. The 04 models and up have the plugs or jacks for the extra speakers already to go under the dash and you can find good deals for these if your patient, around $350. for the pair with all the harware and instructions and they are worth the money, I couldn't believe how much better the system sounded after I installed mine.

The sound stage should always come from the front and not two inches from the back of your head. I recommend putting in some nice front speakers. Personally I like MB Quarts. I have the premium model theyre super light. The basket is made out of some kind of composite for strength and to reduce weight. You will need an amplifier to power a good set of component speakers. The setup I run is mp3 hu which i plan on upgrading soon mb quart fronts a 4 channel amp with the rear channels bridged for a 12" sub I have in there.

Not that much. My front speakers were 500 the hu I dont remember its not a real good one or anything I think it was high 2 low 300. I dont really remember what my sub was either I think I bought one from a store for like 220 loveddddddddddd it and bought 3 more online cheap. They were in my suv I used to be a spl guy hehe. Anyways its a phoenix gold tantrum I havent found a better sub for the money yet. My amp is a hifonics. Its 85 rms by 4 has been an amazing amp. Ive had it for 5 years now I have used it to power alot of different things in that time and its still running strong.

New here, but looking at factory add on versus S-pods for an '04 and have a question. The factory headrest speakerssetup has two (small) drivers per side but only two wires. The S-Pod is obviously one channel, but is the factory set-up one or both left and right? Is there some sort of crossover in the factory wiring which gives you something akin to a center channel (mixed L & R), but behind your head?

Just seems like you'd want both channels, even if it were so close to your head it was mixed.
