As quoted from the immortal Xviper:
To reset the MAINTENANCE REQUIRED light (As indicated by the light that says, "MAINT REQU'D"): - Have key inserted in ignition but in the OFF or LOCKED position. - Push and hold the trip reset button on the right bottom corner of your gauge clutster. - Turn key to full ON position and continue holding the button till the light goes off. -(This part has been added for those who are impatient or who have the light only at the "blinking" stage and not yet solid.) KEEP HOLDING THE BUTTON FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS TO BE SURE OF A POSITIVE RESET. Or maybe just be patient and wait till the light is on all the time before doing this. - (Some manuals may be a bit off in that they do not tell you to turn the key to the ON position.)

Why not just reset it?? That light would drive me nuts to stare at me ALL the time.

Because I drive so much that it always seems like it is on. I drove 20k miles last year.

Gotcha. I've only driven my S2000 20k miles in the 3 1/2 years that I have owned my car. So I've only had to turn the light off about three times.

Well I drive the Insight over 25,000 miles a year and reset it each time. It takes 10 seconds to reset and then I don't have to look at it again for 7500 miles. Personally I would feel like a fool driving around with one of my 'idiot' lights on constantly, but then again, that's just me.

I find it hard to do so I don't do it until it bugs me.
Using my left hand to push the far most right hand button, using my right hand to turn the key and then peering over my arm that to see if the icon has turned off isn't my idea of fun. Then there is the fact that I always have to do it 3 times before it works. I don't know why but it never works the first 2 times. |

Hey, just joined the forum to have this exact question answered. Just got the S2000 in May at 38,000 miles (a 2002) and this is the first time it came on. I should expect it every 7,500 miles???? Car came without a manual, so I'm relying on the internet to answer all my questions. I found the secret compartment. Everyone seems to talk about how the car has no trunk space, but I think it's huge compared to the other convertibles I was looking at. Carries everything I need. Anyways, thanks for the answer to my question.

I turned 16k for the year today and I'm on pace for 20-21k by the end. Car is at 107k miles.

I would recommend doing the maintenance and then resetting the light. By the way, that information is in the owners manual.
