Radio Volume

The stock radio volume only goes to a max of 40 - which when the top is down and your driving on a highway is not loud enough to hear the radio very well. Any suggestions on how to get more volume out of the radio? Would extra speakers in the headrests help?

I know for a FACT that the last year of production of the S2000 is 2003!!!!!
After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.

You can get them buy clicking on the 'index' in my first post.

The other two links are to pictures of mine. The speakers are not in the headrests, they are in the roll hoops.

thanks - I just noticed an interesting problem. The 2007 year model comes with seats that have a solid headrest - so if you install the I-POD right behind the headrest - the sound is going to be blocked by the headrests. The rollbar does come with mini-speakers already installed into the sides of the rollbars.

Having said that then.... if I-PODs turn out not to be a viable option to get better sound from the factory installed system - are their amplifiers that can be installed (maybe under the passenger seat) that will give it most of a boast?

eddie - are you saying that the current stock set up is still not sufficient for good sound?

I don't know, just asking.

yes - i guess thats what I'm saying. The two side speakers on the rollbar aren;t the best. I just wish the stock radio would allow for a higher volume range. I guess I'll need to look into some kind of Amp (like from Crutchfields) that will sit under the pass. seat.

I'd probably go with the pods if I was keeping the car, but I leased it and have to return it next June. However, I'll be getting a new '08 then I'll be able to do mods without worry.

Many people mount their amps in the spare tire well (and thus don't carry a spare) or mount them behind the seat on the back wall. The problem with that though is you lose some seat travel.

Most amps will fit on top of the gas tank. There is plenty of space there. And a good set of speakers in the doors with a decent HU will surpass s pods or any other perturbations you might come up with. My system is crystal clear at 80 miles per hour and the top down.
