Wooden Gear Shift Knob - part 1

Part 1 - I recently received my wooden shift knob from Johnathan (over at S2KCA) and gave it a stain.

I stained it with one coat of red mahogany and one coat of sealer, (Minwax).

Part 2 will be when I can get the OEM knob off the shifter and the new one on. Having trouble getting enough grip to loosen it. I'm such a wimp !

I'll take it to the Honda dealer tomorrow.

You know, I wasn't sure. The Honda mechanic said it wasn't necessary !

However, I tried but couldn't get that to budge either.

when I took my shift knob off to put my leather center console I seem to remember the nut being snug but when I loosened it the shift knob came off pretty easily.

There's jus' somethin' so . . . absolutely "proper" about wood n' leather in a roadster.
One coat'a sealer'z gonna fall by the wayside pretty quickly though Dude, considerin' how often our hands r' wrestlin' with n' massagin' the shift knob. Once that one coat'a sealer fails, sweat n' our natural body oils will darken the parts that have worn thin.
Jus' a suggestion, but a few coats'a sealer might be a safer way'da go.
'Looks purdy.
Be well.

You need to loosen the locknut under the shiftknob and don't use the locknut with the walnut knob.

By the way it's Jonathan
