I was going to dynamat my trunk and doors to reduce some noise. Looks pretty easy to get the panneling out in the trunk but my question is has anyone done it looks easy comming out but back in may be tricky also want to know if it made a big difference for anyone

I used Edead from Elemental Designs which is essentially the same thing. I used the Edead V1 and the Teklite throughout my trunk and on the door panels. It helped a little bit, but since it's a convertible you get a huge amount of road noise from the soft top. I probably wouldn't spend the money on it again.

I wonder if it would be possible to get it up by the firewall that may help a lot

I've seen photos of it done on the firewall. I also have a buddy that used to work at Myer Emco that did dynamat on a customers stewie and said that it did help a lot with the top up. Not so much with the top down, but who cares then??

When I put in the Focals, they, Focal were big on Dynamat. But true sound deadening material is full of lead, which is very heavy. And would have been a compromise. So I taped down any loose wires in the doors and put some extra foam in to stop the door panels from buzzing under large amounts of bass.

Let me know how it goes to eliminate the road noise. I'm contemplating doing it before or after new speakers and an amp, and how well it works will determine which order I do it in.

Ha! Wish I could afford to do it all at once, but alas, college students aren't exactly known for being rich are they?

You are dealing with a convertible with a reasonably stiff suspension. If you want a quiet car buy a Buick or a Chevrolet.

My $.02. I installed b-quiet a couple of weeks ago when I did my audio upgrade. I can tell a difference. I would do it again for the $130 and time spent.

Don't tell me you haven't noticed that with the top up there is some considerable road noise, especially if the road's in bad shape which there's plenty of in NoVA. They're always repairing something

the only downside to dynamat is weight. there are liquid products that get painted on that do as good if not better with far less weight. I'm installing a product called quiet car as I write this. My entire interior is out of the car including the dash.

I have a very high quality audio system in my car. Probably better quality sound than 90% of all small convertible sports cars and no sound dampening is necessary.

I put in 165 K2P's and they are very deep. I took the plastic window stop off the window and reduced it's thickness such the it is even with bolt which holds it on. That with a couple spacers behind the speakers (supplied with the speakers) I have no clearance issues. You do need a substantial amount of power and I would bi-amp them because the passive crossovers aren't very good so 4x 150w would be sufficient.

I absolutely disagree. Having a great sound system is awesome, getting the most out of your sound system is priceless

I too have a great system (imho) MB quart top of the line separates, JL stealth sub, S-pods with MB Quarts Coaxials, and a big JL amp, and an alpine 9887 radio, 4 gauge wire feeding the amp etc.

Proper sound deadening will about a 3db gain to the output of the door speakers and deadening the rest of the car will keep the body from resonating and detracting form the system.

My system will sound much better when I am done. For the record I was a professional installer for about 10 years, a long ass time ago.

My goal is to be able to hear and enjoy the system above 100 miles per hour
