My Del Sol Si used to do this. Turned out to be bad wiring for the antenna on the radio. Example is with old TV's, if you found a bad station you got snow and loud fuzz in your speakers. Now with newer ones it will actually disable the speakers so you hear no fuzz and the screen will go black. If it isn't that it could be the radio going bad and not taking the signal. Should happen more when the road is bumpy or there is more movent with the car.. Hope that helps..

must be common in Hondas. I had the same problem in my 93 Prelude. It turned out to be bad ground wire connection.

bad ground would definitely cause it to shut down. i was thinking something along those same lines. does the radio display go out? if not, it's probably what designpro was saying, a loose/crappy antenna connection.

i feel like that is a wiring issue. it's very simple to pull the radio out. the cover (with the two vents, in front of the shifter) just snaps out (CAREFULLY!). then it's just a matter of removing 4 screws and pulling the radio out. then you can check the connection of the wires to the back of the radio. if those aren't loose, you have a loose ground somewhere, i think.
http://www.s2000.org/mods/radio/ this show's exactly how to remove the radio. it should only take about 10 minutes tops. any other ideas from the forum?

Well I ain't no 'lectrician and I can't even change the batteries in my flashlight without settin somethin on fire, but I think I'd check the simple stuff first. Maybe a loose fuse?

Didnt think of that. Good idea. I am thinking alonf the lines of lonestar. I didnt know the whole thing was turning off. For me it was just sound, the actual radio was still on. I'm thinking the main harness is loose, or a fuse is loose. Fuse is easier first... Then onto pulling out the radio..
