i'm a dolt

last night was gorgeous and i decided to ride home topless from work.

this morning, i had a doctors appointment before an early meeting, so i was up at 5 am. well, my body was up, my mind was very much still asleep.

when i pulled my car out of the garage, i shut the garage door and put up the top (one must have perfectly quaffed hair for work). as i began to pull out of the driveway, i was rolling up my windows and noticed that the passenger window would not budge. ugh! i was not in the mood to drive 30 miles on the highway with my window open.

keep in mind, it was 5:30 am and i wasn't exatly "on" yet. i pressed the window up/down button over and over, then tried it on the passneger side, still nothing. i turned the car off and on, nothing. i tired locking and unlocking the car, still nothing.

i grabbed my manual and located the correct fuse. unfortunately, the fuse tool was not where it should have been. no problem, i have about 7 in my tool box. i dig around in my tool box for a few minutes and find one, then go back out to my car. i grabbed my emergency flash light and twisted my admittedly slightly-larger-than-it-should-be frame under the steering wheel trying my best not to get my suit dirty.

i pulled the fuse and there was no issue whatsoever. now i am starting to get frustrated. i just said to heck with it and decided to risk leaving my window open all day. i work in downtown dallas, so that shouldn't be an issue!

i headed out becuase i was running out of time. window was still down. about 5 miles from my house, i realize that these spectacular machines come with a window lock that, when activiated, won't even let the driver roll down the passenger window. i fumbled to find this magic switch (it was still dark) and flipped it. voila! window functions flawlessly.

i felt like turning around and calling in stupid for work today.

Many of us have done this before so your not the only one. First thing came to my mind is that " this is gonna be expensive " and such a relief when you find the switch.

Whatever you do dont touch the switch. Thats how the problem is caused. Its on the drivers door by the mirror adjustment thingy........you know ?
On the other hand it could be one of those ejector seats ( earlier ap1 models) If your gonna play with it make sure your hardtops off !

I accidentally hit mine while I was detailing the inside. It's on the driver's, by the window switches.

Man, I love this post! This happened to me the day I bought the car in Denver about a month and a half ago. But it took me longer (including posts to this site) to figure it out. I drove into Ely, Nv in a dramatic thunderstorm. Since I couldn't get the passenger window up, I figured I'd just leave the top down. At 90mph, you really do not get wet even in a pouring rain storm.

Wouldn't change a thing, other than the fact it was user error!

Thanks for the post!

Awesome. There's nothing like that part of the country with boomers, cool that you did it topless at 90! I think that's what the highway designers had in mind around there...

We all know this button on the AP1 models makes them twice as fast as the AP2....

thanks for the support! i figure this one ranks right up there with not being able to open the fuel door. or when we were test driving it and we wanted to put the top up, but we didn't realize it had to have the e-brake ingaged (never owned a conv. before that was automatic). we didn't know where the manual was becuase we hadn't found the secret compartment yet. and by we, i mean me and the guy who sold it to me.

it's been a very long week...

I've already managed to do this one too. Not sure about 90, but at 60 the rain didn't really come in but the spray recirculated back into the cockpit. It took me a LONG time to figure out why the wipers weren't moving the rain off the windshield (it was on the inside!) Fortunately I usually have some sort of towel in the car and managed to wipe it off before the outside world completely disappeared.

I didn't know we had power mirrors until I owned the car for about two months. No joke!

When I first picked up the car from the dealer, I didn't see the switch. So, I just manually pushed the mirrors into a good position, with nice little "clicks". I was thinking...well, this is a hard-core two seat sports car, so Honda probably didn't bother with the added weight of mirror motors, wires, etc. Right?

Hopefully I didn't do too much damage to the gears.
(Luckily, I did find the secret compartment about 3 weeks earlier

Now if only there was a power lock and unlock button on the inside of the car it would be perfect.

Dude after reading this and with the knowledge of the magic button still fresh in my mind i went for a drive with the top down and when the passenger window wouldnt roll up i freakied out for like 5 seconds and then i looked down at the button and said "OHH". It happens to everyone like someone said further up

and Glenn1 there is a power lock button. you flip the drivers side lock thingy right by the door handle to the lock position and itll automatically lock the passenger door too

I am assuming that Lone Star is not a Brotha... But I could be wrong... I am really glad she (I'm assuming) posted this, as this has never happened to me, I am sure it will someday and it will be the first thing I think of thanks to her (I'm assuming)... Great story though... Glad you could school us... I am sure I will need it someday...

Edit:
I really could be wrong about the gender of our thread originator... Sorry Lone Star if I am... I could have sworn there was a female member and I thought she was Lone Star... My bad and my apologies if I am mistaken...

That's crazy talk. It's totally worth going top down and having to deal with convertible hair. Then again, we have far fewer perfect top-down days around here.
