Radio Door?

I have always been curious if there is a reason for the slot inside the radio door, or is just structural? Or what good use has anyone else found for it? I haven't found any good use for it ... yet

I've found some uses for it, but none seem to fit.

Cash <---Not the safest idea.
Mail <---Why the fuhk would I want to keep mail there.
Insurance & Registration Cards <---Kind of cool, but not quite.

I've even attempted to use it to set my phone in, it doesn't work well at all.

So I don't know what Honda's intent was for this.

Heres a quote from Honda.

"Center console redesigned to provide:
Two cupholders (previously just one)
A one-touch sliding lid
A storage tray to place small objects such as coins"
Corporate Honda Press Article

This might be a interesting thread.

I use it for business cards and insurance/registration. Sure was handy the last 2 times I got pulled over (for speeding, what else). I had the info right there. If I get pulled over in my wife's Xterra, I'd have to rummage around in her glovebox for half an hour to find that stuff.

Damn those gauges look super clean though it would almost be worth it.
