Alpine HU vs Dash controls

Hi guys, can anyone tell me if the dashboard controls plug straight in to an Alpine headunit (9886r) or does it require an extra cable/connector?

You will need an adapter. This is by far the best that you can buy, get the wiring harness so it will be plug and play.

+1 for the Modirfy DCI (and PnP harness if you have an Alpine HU).
