Double Din Radio Bezel?

I have read there is a JDM double din radio bezel... Does anyone know where to purchase this or have a part number?
I have also heard of people modifying their existing Bezel... Does anyone know where there is a write up on this?
I hav no clue how they could possibly get a double din in this dash but still curious... Thanks...

yeah, you have to cut a hole in your dash and custom install it.

Gotcha... I dont think I will be getting one of those anytime soon... I will just have to figure out how to make what I got work... Has anyone installed a flip out DVD player? Does in the original radio's spot?

I was actually scoping out the process of gettn a double din unit installed where the single din is now. I was at a custom sound system shop and they were going to remove the whole section where the single din is, including the door and AC vents, and build a custom box in its place for the double din unit.

It was gonna cost an extra $700 for the custom stuff and I decided not to do it.

I just went with a new single din with Ipod, bluetooth and Nav ready. I'm thinkn of gettn the Nav screen thats built into the sun visor, just havent gottn around to it yet.

Yo Roger, is the reason you want a double din unit to watch movies? If so, try this affordable alternative. I just bought a touchscreen IMT (Archos5). Entire setup cost me about $400. I have my entire library of music and videos on this device so I can listen and watch anything. Not as clean as the JDM indash but costs fractions less

Thanks! The stock setup is horrible, had to change it. That device even has an optional GPS and helmet cam attachment. Perfect for those who like to record themselves driving....but J's mount is much better for that

How is the Archos in the car? Does it play through the existing radio or have it's own amplifier and speakers, can it be seen easily in sunlight? I know it's a portable, how is the battery life?

No it does not play through the stock radio, I had to upgrade the headunit that has an AUX MP3 jack. Then I ran a cable from the HU to the Archos. The other cable is for the power that I plug into the cig adaptor. You can see that I tucked it under the leather to hide the cable.

Only downside is that when the sun is directly above you (around noon-2pm) it gets a little difficult to see cuz of the glare, but you get so used to the interface that you can navigate pretty easily, even with the glare.

Battery life is awesome. I recently flew to Atlanta from LA (about a 5 hr flight). I watched a movie and listened to music the entire way and still had a couple bars left.

I'm thinking about buying the helmet cam so I can turn this device into a camcorder too

I actually have a single din DVD player on the way... I dont reallt want it for movies... I want it for the NAV... I got it cheap enought that I am confident that I will get my money back if it does not fit... My next step was to get a double din if this one does not fit but my delima was getting the double to fit... I guess thats trully not an option... Or at least not a relistic one... The little screen sticking off to the side of the shifter is pretty cool... That may be my next step since the doubke is out of the question... Below is a pic of the HU that is on it's way...

The single din pop out screens will more than likely hit the dash before they extend out. Not to mention that it may hit the sifter before it even gets completely extended. I just use my iPhone for movies, music and maps in my S. I bought an Axxess Aux Ipod/Audio input adapter that has a port for an audio cable that works with the stock HU CDC port.

I'd thought about the Archos at one time but couldn't get answers to all the questions you just answered. Guess I'm going to have to go looking for one now. Thanks for the answers.

I dont think I am going to have an issue with it hitting the shifter... If there is one I will just have to put it in 2nd, 4th, 6th or reverse before the screen comes out... My concern is it hitting the dash... I may have to do some custom work on the bezel... I really did not want to have to do that though...

I still think that if it doesn' t hit the dash, the angle of the screen will be pointing down and thus difficult to see. Sour dash sticks out really far above the radio DIN. If you do get it to work, please let us know.

Hey Roger, sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but that is not going to work. I originally wanted to install a single dvd player that slides out, but 2 different shops told me that it will not clear our dash since it sticks out further than other cars. You can angle the screen but cmon that's pretty lame. Or you can install the head unit so that it sticks further out so that it can clear the dash, but then you won't be able to close the radio door.
