2000 mile journey in my s2000

So i just realized that i never posted on this site about my recent visit to San Francisco and the beautiful state of California.
My wife and I took about a week off and went from Monday to Monday on a road trip through 3 states and miles and miles of fun.

So we started our trip up the coast in Santa Monica, wasn't too bad.

Took a little detour on a little road off the PCH. Quite twisty and no one on it.

Stopped for the night in Santa Barbara

Also stopped somewhere along the way and to our surprise there were TONS of elephant seals!

Once we made it to San Francisco we didn't drive at all.
We went to Alcataz, rode bikes across the bridge, went to China Town all using the local transportation.

The way up into Yosemite as well as through and out of it was quite fun.
I might say the measure of a fun drive is Twists, Tunnels, and Topography.

Looks like you had lots of fun on your trip. When the roads are fun, the miles just seem to roll on by with no complaints from the driver.

We really only spent the night there. The place we stayed at was fantastic and what we did see of Santa Barbara was beautiful. Next time i'm out there i'll post up and meet with some fellow s2kers.

Nice! Your thread will likely be a huge help to Charlie who is doing a trip similar to this right now.

I am curious, what was the road off of PCH in Santa Monica area that you took?

i have no idea what road it might have been.
Actually after looking back, it was nowhere near Santa Monica. It was west of Malibu. Deer Creek rd is the road. I know it was past where we stopped to eat and we ate at Neptune Net so its gotta be Deer Creek.
It was an amazing road and the only other car i saw was a Porsche GT3 that turned onto the road before I did.

LOL I totally just noticed I put the wrong month. I was in big sur from may 19-22. I think I DID see a yellow s2000 while I was there.

I knew it was the wrong month since June isnt until tomorrow. I think my brain is on backwards.

What a wonderful trip. I would be lying if I said I wasn't envious. That looks like it was a ton of fun. Someday, I hope to do a trip like that, too.

Yeah it was surely a blast. There were plenty of fun roads so even when i was "just driving" i was having fun.
Friends at home thought i was crazy to say i was driving all the way up there but they don't quite understand.

Pictures are great. The angles of the car are really good, better than the manufacturer's pictures.

Damn! Don't you know there's CA law against posting pictures
like that. It's hard enough keeping people out after the rose parade.
Nice pics though.

Actually, during the dust bowl era police were posted at the border
to keep the Okies and other poor people out.

Just a Phil trivia moment!

California is a beautiful state to visit. There are plenty of things to do as well.
I really can't wait for my next trip in the S but driving up the coast like that was quite the memory maker and hard to top.

I see you stopped off at The Ragged Point Inn in between San Simeon and Big Sur. Nice place.
