Djjsr is setting it straight for whatever noob comes along reads your thread and goes cool I can dump 300 octane gas in my car an itll run 10's.
i dont see where anyone was claiming higher octane meant more power?

and yes, on a na setup you can get more power with higher octane.....of course you have to advance timing or up the compression

desmo did........... I dont get why this is hard to understand. What dj basically said was use the correct gas for your car. If its stock and you use 93 or youre running 30 psi and you need 110 but dont slap 110 in the car that only needs 93.

That really makes no sense... The topic of the post was for race gas for a boosted s2000. It has nothing to do with using race gas on a stock car. Do you have two screen names? Are you secretly desmo?

Already am faster... It's funny that I'm called a douche bag because I asked a question and got some worthless responses and some useful ones. Seems like the ones that were worthless seem to get a bit testy. Love the picture, a little off though.

And lonestar, how am I acting like I'm so hot? Because I know what I'm talking about? I'd have to say a real douche bad is someone who doesn't even give a informal post and just try's to rag on someone for no apparent reason. Kind of pathetic if you ask me.

Gomarlins, you can close this thread it's been dead for awhile. A few teenagers want to continue to amuse themselves.

Since alcohol has nearly exactly 50% of the energy as that of gasoline how can e85 provide any get up and go? It will probably cause an extremely lean condition. Cars designed to run on alcohol, like in Brazil have gas tanks which are twice as large as US cars because they use twice as much fuel.

cars have sensors in the tank that can determine fuel content and adjust fueling accordingly.

e85 101

E-85 has a very high octane rating. You can advance the timing for more power and up compression (run more boost) for more power as it resists preignition/detonation. It also runs much much cooler.

Gasoline BTUs/gal: ~120,000
Ethanol BTUs/gal: ~70,000

If BTUs were the main factor in making power, we'd all be running diesel which is ~140 BTUs/gal.

Of course you're going to need to make some major changes to run E-85, but it does work very well in high performance applications. If I recall right, there is a 700+whp S2000 around somewhere running on E-85.

Yep, the computer then uses the O2 sensor(s) to retain a stoichiometric mixture depending on whatever the gas being used is.

some buick guys i know are converting their cars for dual/fuel use and were toying around with the idea of making it a seamless setup like it is in the new GM cars... they priced out the fuel type sensor... like $350+ from a dealership

ouchhhhhh

116 octane should raise your top speed to about 175mph or so

My tuner suggest e85 but said I'd need 1600cc injectors instead of 1000cc..

Some people who run regular in their cars (not s2k owners) will run 93 oct to clean the injectors a bit. If people are running 93 oct would running a higher octane like race fuel help in that aspect of things?

This thread has taken so many turns (and not many of them good) that I believe it has run it's course. With the amount of BLATANT breaking of site rules related to profanity, I am going to close it and send out some warnings.
