Killing Me Softly

I am a new S2K member who needs to feel the love!
Bought my S2K a couple of months ago only after being painfully separated permanently from my 93LE Miata. I pulled a douchebag move & made a left hand turn in front of a full-size Ford truck that I swear was not there. Now understand, this Miata & I had traveled 212,821 miles together (I am original owner) & I was very certain I would be driving this car forever. And if it had not been for the unbelievable protection this car afforded me in my unfortunate accident, I assure you we would have been together forever, if you catch my drift. Ouch. However - I walked away w/ only bruised ribs since my car held onto me for dear life by means of the seat belts. 'So don't nobody dare say nothin' bad 'bout my Ms Jenkins!' Just kidding - my Miata's name was Boug, not Ms Jenkins (old school fans of In Living Color will get that). Anywho - I am coming around to being won over by my S2K, even if this is only as of late. I literally went through the 5 stages of grief over the loss of my LE (believe me - we got into a lot of trouble together that bonded us!) & am just now feeling as though I am not driving someone else's car, but my own. I have not made it an easy task for my S2K, Rico Suave, since my beloved LE (Boug) still sits in his lifelong parking spot in my garage. I am parting it out, I swear!
I have much to learn about Rico & his kind, but one of the questions on my mind now is about the Silver color. I believe Rico to be Silverstone Metallic, but I have also seen a reference to Sebring Silver somewhere. Rico is an '04 w/ the red/black interior - does that mean anything? I am open to any knowledge that can be shared - this will be a process for me since I was an original owner of only 1,500 93LE's & know way too much about that car from the start. Now I am jumping in the middle here owning an S2K & now finding out that the car is discontinued. I would like to buy a hard top for Rico, since I am used to having one. I have located one that the guy says is 'the light silver, not the pewter silver.' How can I decipher which one is for my Rico?
Thanx so much & I look forward to belonging to my new family.

Welcome! You seem to be a passionate cool new owner, and trust me, you will become just as obsessed with your S2K as the Miata. I apologize in advance for any Miata jokes you encounter on this site

Anyways, post pics! That will be the easiest way to determine your true color. Most likely it's the Silverstone Metallic like in my signature, that's the most common color

How are you getting such a large pic attached? It keeps telling me my files are too large, so I had to shrink it to a thumbnail.

Yikes, man. You walked away from THAT with just bruised ribs? I can see how you might become religious about a Miata after that.

Other than being 2 seaters tho, the S2K has little else in common with a Miata in my view. The Miata is a great retro car. The S2k is also a throw back in the sense of being an old school sportscar, but a technically advanced one. That 6-9k rpm range is utterly Ferrari-esque, the steering and suspension technologies are drawn from actual racing experience. Nothing retro about it.

The more you learn about this car, the more you will come around to it. And watch those lefthand turns. Fate dealt you a full house with that Ford truck tango. Wouldn't expect those cards a second time.

Welcome aboard!

I just bought an S2K on Monday so I am a newbie too. It is a 2000 model year (with only 50,000 miles) in the same color combo (silver, black/red interior). The previous owners have been anal retentive freaks and the car looks like it just came off the assembly line. I look forward to driving it long into the future! I hope to post my own pic soon.

After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.

Thanx, guys, for the warm welcome. Love the comments & the info.
Sf - I hear you loud & clear. There is no doubt someone was watching over me that day. You should see the looks on people's faces that have been buying parts off of my crunched Miata. They actually take pics of it to show to others as testimony!
Java Junky - you have got to be the coolest thing I have ever tried to translate. I don't know how you come up w/ that lingo, but I beeda tryun to leahrn it nah! Hmm - that was weak, but I'll keep studying! :P Oh - and I did take Rico out for a nice spin last nite & today.
Philiam - thanx for the clue about the color. So there were 2 colors of Silver? Sebring & Silverstone? When did it change? Which yrs were which color?
Dr Jimbo - you are right indeed. My poor Miata was very surprised . . . that I would treat him w/ such disregard & place him right in harm's way, tolling his death knell. Man - it has taken awhile to deal with that guilt.
But all is well - it is good to be alive to enjoy the thrills of my S2K!
You guys are too cool.

Good to hear you made it through that crash in one piece especially after seeing the condition that the car ended up in. My stewie is also silver and i love the color as a matter of fact i love everything about it.

If i were to tell a new S2000 owner one thing it would be that you will fall in love with her more after every mile. Have fun and welcome
