Hi all,
I just want to say hi and tell everyone I have make up my mind that getting a S2000 instead of Audi TT, WRX.
Here is the reason, First, No matter how old the Honda car, still look good to me. e.g. old hatch back Civic Si or Integra. I can see myself driving a S2000 even when I getting old. You still see some old men (maybe 50) driving it. Second, I believe Honda can last forever.
Here is the basic spec I know between AP1 and AP2
AP1 can rev to 8800rpm with cable throttle.
AP2 redline is 8000rpm but increase more torque with cable throttle on 2004-05. 06 to now are drive by wire with revised seat and better stereo.
Anyone can give me their experience between those. I have read some other forum member saying the old passenger seat is uncomfortable based on their girlfriend experience.

Anyone can point out which have the POS or Con?
I do not think dealer in here will cut the price in winter, since here doesn’t really have winter at all.

I’m kind of leaning to 04-05 models with cable throttle better respond and more torque for daily use.

Stick to 02+. The 00-01 have plastic rear windows and other little problems that were fixed by 2002.

The seats are not bad. I was not a huge fan of them and put in Recaro Pole Positions, but I would have done that even if the seats were great. Haha.

The 04-05 are the best in my opinion. By 06 the car has so many electronics and such which take away from what the car was supposed to be.

Wow, some low mileages 2004-05 AP2 selling more than 06-07 AP2. It seems like 17-20K for the 2004-07 S2000. I saw some 06 AP2 with 20K mileages for $20K, but 04-05 with 60-70K miles selling just 1-2K less?

How does those used car dealer know 04-05 is the best S2000?

I like White color one, but it only come with Tan leather. Maybe Black on black is next best choice? hehe

Yeah white is the best but that Tan is terrible. I would just buy it and get new seats and carpet. Those are easy to find.

I know for a FACT that the last year of production of the S2000 is 2003!!!!!
After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.

lol, Sorry for that term. I just hoping I can keep the S forever. The S gonne be my second car. Im driving a Murano with 70K miles, and my wife has a 01 Civic with 80K miles with new tire on 2 weeks ago. She will use my SUV, if I get a S. And we dont have intention to sell the Civic, she bought it new and replace the transmission when it was 25K under warranty. Plus, I do not want to be other S owners selling their car later because they need a bigger car or more room etc..
Also, other major infulence is couple of my neighbors been keeping their 20+ years old Poscher with them and keep it really nicely. One of my friend just let me drive his 1986 turbo Z. It is amazing when the turbo kick in to the 20+ old car. Im just not into that body style. Maybe I post some picture later this week.

Welcome to the site from another Houstonian! I have an 04 and it has been great to me as a daily driver. You know living in Houston nothing is down the street and you need that reliability. Go with 04+ in my opinion.

Watch out ya'll- Texas is going to take over S2000.com!

Just test drove a 2003 yellow S2000 on last Friday with no intention to buy, and just want to compare the different between AP1 and AP2.
http://houston.craigslist.org/ctd/1437973858.html

That S2000 in really bad condition. The back bumper had bad paint job, both muffler was taken out. (really loud) The cultch needs to be replace, duck tap been taping inside the top. The most important problem is there is a hole got cut in + sharp after the air intake. I was shock when I saw that. Seem like the last owner was upset the trade in offer. LOL. Overall, I think it has good torque in AP1, but I haven't driven a AP2 yet. I will try to go out this weekend to look.

wow, that car is messed up! I have a tear in my passenger's side on the roof near the rear as well. Thankfully it hasn't been leaking.

I'd pay about 8000 for that car. There's not even an air filter box! That air filter looks like an OEM replacement too, haha.

Crazy...

It takes a while to find an AP1 in good condition. the one i just got is almost in perfect condition and it's a 2001. even the plastic window is in good shape. it took about 3 months of searching and waiting but I finally found it. mines black on black too. awesome color combination I think!

Well, I think he took off both mufflers and replace a pipe in the back. That kind of mod you usually see those V8 engine trucks or Mustang.
