S2000 in Toronto Canada

Hello to all,

I'm the Operations Manager for a Honda dealership located in Toronto Canada and I finally got my dream car, a black 2005 Honda S2000 that was imported from the US. It only has 45K on it and the car is mint except for a small tear in the top. My son is a Honda tech and crawled all over it and gave me the thumbs up before I bought it. I paid about 22K which seems fair considering the shape the vehicle is in. Working for Honda if I can be of any help to anyone please let me know.

Welcome to the site! Just curious, what's usually the sticker price for a new S2k in Canada?

Post some pics too!

$50,600 + 5% GST + whatever sales tax is where purchased + delivery.
I sourced a new one last year and it came out just shy of $59k Pretty scary, eh. Just about all the ones you see in Canada have been imported. There has not been one in the local dealership for years.
When we import, as I did, we have to pay an additional 6% because it is manufactured in Japan. I'm lucky, there is no sales tax in Alberta, just GST, so I had to factor in bucking up 11% of the purchase price at the boarder. Also, Montana has no sales tax, so I did not have to pay it there at the time of purchase. Still way cheaper than buying it at home though.

I got offered the last 2009 S2000 in Canada for about 10K off the sticker from Honda Canada. But the price for the US import was just too good to pass up. I bought it from http://www.canadianautoassociates.com/ and they converted it with DRL and just switched the speedo to KMs. They also had a sweet yellow CR for sale for about 35K. My S is now in storage and I can't wait until spring to go crusing with my baby!

Congratulations Wayne. I did the same thing 2 years ago when our dollar was above par. One of the best decisions I've ever made as the car has been an absolute delight to drive since I've had it. With tomorrow's forecast for snow here in the GTA, I'd say you got it just in time to go straight into the garage. Am I right? Congrats again.

I know for a FACT that the last year of production of the S2000 is 2003!!!!!
After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.

Yeah you're right, pretty much straight to the garage. I did get a nice top down cruise in before it got too cold. I didn't put the cover over the top, it's still in the original bag in the trunk, nice....

And that's probably where it'll be if and when you ever sell the car. (They don't get used much ... if at all)

Why not? Is it a pain to put on? I had a '71 Fiat Spyder and it actually went on in a couple of minutes...

Not a problem if you push the overhead frame back when lowering the top. After reading all the negative posts I let mine gather dust. One day I tried and it took a few minutes. Practice makes perfect.

Hey guys, since I work for Honda if anyone needs anything Honda (parts, service info etc) please get in touch with me. I've been with Honda since '74 and owned or driven almost every Honda ever made, everything from an N600 to an NSX. Right now I'm driving a 2009 Fit Sport for my demo. I eat, sleep and bleed Honda.

I use my cover all the time. When I was looking at the car the salesman got busy so I just lowered the top and I had found the cover in the trunk so I put it on without instructions and have never had an issue with it. It only takes about 90 seconds if that to put it on or take it off. I like the way the car looks with the top cover on the car so I am one of the few that actually uses it. But just my opinion

Your car is probably new enough that the elastic straps attached to the overhead frame are doing their jobs. They can be replaced but it's not that hard to do it by hand.

Assembly insturctions for the tonneau.

I am still not sure if I have my top on correct. It does not seem to fit well. If I leave the two plastic tabs out it looks good. Is there somewhere on this sight that actually shows someone how to install this correctly. I think my instructions are in jap and maybe french. Also manual is not very good on this issue.

Congrats on the car I just picked the same year up from the states as well with 15,000 miles but I only paid $18,000 canadian all in. Is there anything done to yours that makes it so much more.

It aint hard. As you put the top down, reach over your head, grab the cross bar and push it backwards as the top descends. Put the drivers seat back forward, push the dangling strap on the shiny pin. Repeat on the passenger side. Reach under the cover and locate the pins in back. If you can't snap those on, don't sweat it. Tuck the back tabs under the rear trim and push the back of the cover under the rear trim. Even with the two rear pins not locked the cover will stay in place.
