I got here as fast as I could

Hi ya'll. I just registered today and I gotta say you folks are great. I don't own an S2K yet but its my "dream car". I've read everything about em and have driven a friends and I have to say I have fallen in love with this car.(this coming from a tried and true '70 GTO fan) I have my trim and options layed out and printed off, now to just get the cash to buy and the <gulp> convincing of the wife. She wants the new Ford 'Stang GT.

I've learned a ton about the S2K from you folks and I'll try to add what I know as I can.

Welcome aboard Kit. But, as much as I (I'm speakin' for myself here folks) enjoy my Stewie . . bein' forced to drive a Mustang GT as the consolation prize? Hell! You win if you win n' you win if you don't win.
Those kind'a disappointments we should all godda deal with!
Be well n' good luck.

The Mustang GT is a nice car in a straight line. I would bet the S would be more fun when the road starts to turn. Go to an autoX and watch the two cars go around cones. Which one stays flatter and is quicker through the cones?

As I said, the GT is a nice car and a great buy for the money, but I like to turn quickly as well.

I know for a FACT that the last year of production of the S2000 is 2003!!!!!
After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.

Okay, hope nobody minds. but I'm jus' gonna recycle an old one on this topic:
I've gotta admit that I'm probably a "Mustang-kinda-person" at heart. They make predictable, easily-used horses like you were turnin' an electric dial. Very easy (n' gobs of fun) to steer with your gas pedal in the corners.
It's certainly a more practical package than Stewie if you've need of more than 2 seats some of the time n' there's no comparison comin' away from a stop. And the last time that I paid attention the price is easier to deal with too.
Driveability-wize it's a much easier car to COMFORTABLY bring closer to the edge of it's abilities than Stewie.
I, personally, can't find alotta fault with it n' if I could have both a 'Stang n' Stewie too I would. If your reasons point to the 'Stang I don't think that you'd be makin' a mistake.
Oh, yeah . . . there's always the 2006 Gargonzolla r' the Baluga, but bang-for-the-buckwize, you'd be hard pressed to find anything as worth the bucks as the 'Stang.

N' this is current: While I know that the the well dressed (better tires/suspension/engine/trans) Mustang may not have the composure of Stewie goin' through a chicane at real speed, I'd be very, very surprised if the end results (times) weren't extremely similar.
And for the record, I'd be willin' to donate the time to testin' this suspicion should anyone be willin' to allow the use of their cars. Hell! For an opportunity to throw those two around, back-to-back? I'd spring for airfare n' commemorative tee-shirts!
And with all due respect to more current racers than myself, I've found that flatter doesn't always translate into faster.
Be well.

I like the Mustang for what its worth. But the American Muscle has weakened quite a bit in my eyes. Like I said, I'm a GTO nut ('69 Judge for pure unadulterated power) but I love the smooth total comtrol of the S2k. I miss the pure power but I love the way they hug the road and leap when ya goose the gas. Yeah, Ill get a 'Stang for my wife but I'M gettin the S2K for me. She can keep her car in the driveway....I'll keep Stewie in the garage...LOL
