Newby
Newby to S2000 as of 11/01. Purchased my used 2004 S2k and I'm in love
w/it. I have not givven this much attention to a car in years. Not to mention that I look for excuses to drive somewhere. I'm lookin for performance mods, ie: Chip, Cold Air intake maybe exhaust. Any suggestions? THANKS! I guess I need to come up with a catchy handle! |

Welcome to the club, but if you have been here since 11/01, you are not new. J/K, I am guessing that is a typo.
As for performance mods, there isn't a chip for the S. You could go with a new EMS and pick up some HP there and a VAFC will get a few as well- but there is debate ont he VAFC and whether the ECU will reset itself over time to compensate for any changes the VAFC makes. As for intake and exhaust, you can gain a few HP there as well, but the biggest change they will make is the sound of the car which many people like to do. The biggest gains are made with big mods (which of course means big money.) Boost and gears are both good performance enhancers, but have large price tags to go with them. Many people feel they are worth the money while others are satisfied with spending less money and getting some smaller gains.

Aaaaay CB, welcome aboard.
Your description of how you're enjoyin' your new ride is pretty accurate. I think that most of us had pretty similar experiences. The best part is that it doesn't wear off. As for changin' stuff: humbly suggest that you hold off. You're happy with the package as it sits, you jus' said so. Get comfortable in it, learn it's (and your) limits n' trust me on this: approach them very gradually. Mother Honda put together a pretty impressive package n' there ain't a whole lodda extras that it actually needs, but if it does, they should only be considered after you sample what it really has to offer stock. I think you'll be impressed. Wear it in good health CB. Be well. Java

Words of WISDOM from the multitudes
Thanks! Thats what I need to hear. I did a lot of research before I purchased the S2k along with hours afterwards. I came up with the same impression, There are not very many reasons to mod the BEAST. I am happy with the performance and handlleing. SO, I'll leave well enough ALONE.
Thanks for the welcome and advive! F-22 Shooter11 (Formerly CBalukin) ![]() |
