Hi! All I am a new S2000 owner silver with red & black 2007. Bought it off the showtoom floor. I have had a few Hondas in the past. A 97 civic, a CRX, an Acura Integra 97. This is my first true sports car. Except for a 2002 Subaru WRX wagon. I am looking forward to talking to other S2000 owners. If you have any new owner insights I would be glad to hear them.

I know for a FACT that the last year of production of the S2000 is 2003!!!!!
After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.

Aaay 50, welcome aboard.
'Best I can come up with to any new Stewie owner is to keep a short leash on yourself until you get some miles under your n' Stewie's belts. If you drive it like any other car, there shouldn't be any real surprises.
If you drive it like most of us bought it to drive it, there's a whole bunch'a potential "gotchas" waitin' in the wings. They range from up close n' personal inspection of the roadside shrubbery that, a few nano-seconds sooner, you were motorin' past to unpleasant up close n' personals with the local constabulary for conduct unbecomin' a community minded citizen.
Give yourself some time in the cockpit before you start lengthenin' the leash, n' when you do it, jus' let out a little at a time n' pay attention.
Stewie don't take kindly to inattentiveness.
Best of luck with your new ride 50, may the road ahead be twisty n' free of traffic n' may your reflexes always be quicker'n what the situation calls for.
Be well.

The S2000 is just a bunch of fun to drive. I was intending to store my car over the winter but the weather has been so mild here in the north east I have been driving her a fair about. This car just grows on you and I must admit that I have a real problem keeping the speed down. I like it so much that I have even considered buying a new 07 in the spring. Not that there is a thing wrong with the 2000 (model year) car I own but I would prefer a white car rather then the red and I am addicated to the new car smell. Any of you guys have opinions as to what you gain or loose moving from a 2000 to a 2007. I know there are some changes but perhaps some of you experience owners could summerize them for me. I know the newer cars have a reduced reline but not certain what that would mean to me if anything. Handling any difference, ride quality? All opinions welcome. John H

Welcome to the site and congrats on your S2000. As Java said, spend some time learning your car before you start driving hard. It is a normal car until you start to push it (there are some unusual characteristics).

Okay John, you already know about opinions, so here goes:
I had the opportunity to spend some time in a friends AP1 until said friend decided that I was abusing the friendship ( I thought that I'd entered "abusive" territory a month earlier) and refused to let me take it anymore. So, I went out, n' after samplin' an AP2, found one for myself. Except for a few occasions when we swapped to take notes I really haven't spent time in the AP1 again, so what I remember is kind'a dusty.
I can't really notice the minute difference in acceleration that, I believe, is mostly noted on paper. They both go quite well when you decide that you're serious about accelerating.
The handlin's where the big differences lie. I find the AP1 much less suspended than the AP2, to the point (n' you'll appreciate this) where an AP1 n' a rough road can have you spittin' chiclets (that's losin' teeth for the younger audience).
Remindin' you about opinions, I find that the AP2 will stick longer in a smooth corner, but when the back end finally reaches it's limit, it seems much more intent on racin' the front to the corner than does the AP1. (In a rough corner the suspension of the AP2 allows it to shine) I think that the AP1 is easier to bring back from an unintentional slide.
Now, add to all this that I'm talkin' 'bout, I think the AP1 that I used was a 2001, n' mine is a 2004. Dunno how much use that's gonna be in determinin' the handlin' on a 2007.
Hope that's been of some help John.
Be well.
