New to the forum
just got my 07 s2000, and this car is just amazing. I was going to go for Z4, after testdrove my friend's 06 S2000, I changed my mind. This car is just so good, I enjoy every moments driving it.
Anyways, I was looking for some information and ran in to this forum, glad I found you guys! PS/ Is anyone with the Honda Music Link? I heard some bad rep about it, has it updated yet? if not, any good other iPod solution to the car? |

Welcome aboard Dan. N' yeah, it's lots'a fun, ain't it.
Jus' be aware that your friends're gonna be lookin' at'cha funny n' a little stand-offish for awhile. But it's alright, we all go through it. It's that damned smile that we can't avoid after drivin' it aroun' a bit. 'Tends to make other folks nervous. Be well. Java

Welcome Dan the man !
Interesting that you chose the S over the Z4. I mean, great choice for sure, but what were the reasons you went with the S2000?

s2k over z4, it was acutally easy choice. in many ways , s2k wins z4...
at first, when i was looking for the car, i did not really consider s2000, since my friend had one i didn't really want to be copycat or something lol, he offered me to spin, we took it out to pch, and i had lots of fun. reving over 6k rpms was really somethine else, and that vtec kick-in feeling was something else too!, on normal car , you don't really wanna go over 6K rpm, it felt like guilty pleasure for me to go all the way!. anyhow, affordability and price, of course S2000 is a steal at its price, and i got this car $2000 off the msrp and it was a good deal. with the BMW base model starts from $36400. base model is so called empty can, everythings manual, even opening the top. premium options, xenon hid lights, and other options, and after tax, price goes over 40K easily, if I was to spend over 40K, I would have gone for Lotus Elise instead. numbers, numbers.... 237hp over z4's 215hp, that would be one thing. downshifting fun- high reving engine would be the good reasons i guess. I had 00 E46 330i, and I did not like the performance on that car, well it's a sedan and everything.. anyhow same engine on Z4, not quite satisfying. interior, kinda like bmw's but, too complicated, simplicity is the key!, that iDrive thing is annoying. brilliant thing with s2k's simple interior is without looking you could still have every control, love the engine starter button and audio controls. also digital thing on the dash was coool too, i really liked 90-93 prelude's dash, it was like somekinda spaceship tech for me back than, and I ended up having on my s2000. i think i could write an essay about listing all those goodies on s2000, but since you guys know the differences between other cars and s2000, i am not even trying. anyways i am happy with the car, and i did make right choice. |

Well done amigo! Your decision certainly illustrates your wisdom. Wrinkes for grinning are just part of the process in driving one of the best vehicles ever. Welcome to a new world of fun! Enjoy your car and check in a lot 'cause the inquiries and responses from Java, the Supreme Leader of this site, are priceless.

Congratulations on the car! In my book S2000 is easily a better choice than Z4, as well. For different reasons though.
This is actually interesting for me too. No matter how good an mp3 player car has, it's still easier to throw some songs on an iPod every dan instead of burning them on CD's. |

Awright . . I'm gonna be comin' from the dark side'a the moon here . . n' I'm certainly not talkin' about cruisin', r' even 50% full-out, but does anybody else find that even the best'a your favorite tunes intrude on your concentration when you're seriously tryin' to extract every possible ounce of enjoyment out'a a particular set'a twisties?
N', it's okay. I'm expectin' ta get torpedoed on this. I've a hunch that it might jus' be an age thing. Have additt lads! Be well. Java

Yes and no. If I'm in a new location that I'm not familiar with, I'd switch off the music for 2 reasons: 1) the engine soundtrack, 2) it helps when You actually hear the tires throwing in the towel. I don't race much in places where I don't know what's coming up next, but hypothetically if I would, I'd switche the music off.
BUT, if it's a road I know well and have driven many many many times, the music just sorta helps getting some new emotions from it, sets the mood right. |

Java - me thinks it might be an age thing, cause I'd rather listen to the motor sing than listen to the radio or a CD.
I know the sound system has been berated in the S, but I say SO WHAT! When I want to listen to a favorite CD the sound is sufficient for my tastes. Ok, so I'm old. But hey, it's all relative isn't it????? the dude !!!
