My first S2K

New to the site, but have been a speed freak for years. I just traded in the 11th mustang that I owned (Okay...I'm old). I know that my last stock 4.6L stang will easily do 150 miles per hour with a long enough straight (been there). Say you live in Texas and you can see ten miles of freeway ahead of you (recent lasix). What can I expect to hit with a stock engine?

I know for a FACT that the last year of production of the S2000 is 2003!!!!!
After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.

Welcome to the site!! I'm not sure how fast you can go. I've heard people in the mid 150's, and I've heard some in the mid 140's. I've only had mine to 127, and it felt like it was still pulling pretty good.

Welcome aboard Kirk. N' your age n' your history with 'Stangs won't be held against ya.
As for what it'll hit flat out, dunno. Li'l Stewie excels at corners n' that's been my preference. I've found that I can get as much "rush" out'a an "on-the-edge" 50 miles per hour series of twisties as I can out'a 175/180 (no, not in Stewie). 'Sides . . everytime I've taken somethin' up to it's max I wind up in the same place: "Now-what?".
But, if we all had the same 'druthers we wouldn't have a helluva lot to talk about, would we?
Wear it in good health n' watch out for the @#&in' Chargers. Too many of our fellow speed-freaks r' toolin' aroun' in P.D. unmarked Hemi Chargers n' I don't godda tell ya that they're as itchy as Rotties ta chase somethin'.
Be well.
Java
P.S. I know Texas is big n' all, but those long straights godda have turns on 'em someplace . . . . . don't they?

Thanks for the replies!

Thanks for the replies. I just figured that just knowing will be enough info to keep me from trying. It's that digital speedometer issue...what does it go up to? I'll agree it is the 0-60 that brings on the smile. If you are familiar with Texas on ramps around San Antonio, they are more like a driveway entrance than a ramp (about 50-100 yards long with no merge lane, you either get up to speed or get run over). As for the Java Junky remark...I have one freeway (Route 57)I favor that goes from south of SA to the mexican Border. It's 98 miles long with one flashing light around the 40 mile point, it was only patroled twicw a day (relatives in the sherrifs dept). There is only three turns that you need to take under 100 miles an hour, my best time was a little over 49 minutes on a cold morning with extremely low traffic.
I have been reading a few (hundreds) of your forum blogs...It appears that I will be getting a S2K education from some of you. Looking forward to future chats.

FYI the 2004+ S2000 has a listed top speed of 156 M.P.H.(and I know it pulls pretty good and feels solid up to about 135-140, but that was good enough for me)
