new member, just sayin whatsup.

hey guys.

im kevin, im in orland park illinois. and im looking into getting a 00-02 S2000. ill probably be getting one in the next month or so. most likely silverstone, or black. ive loved these cars since they came out. but i never thought id be able to own one.

but over the past few months ive decided im going to get one.

i have a few questions. does anyone on here drive theirs in the snow?if so how bad is it? i dont really want to, but i cant plan the weather.

any known problems i should look for? ive heard of a syncho grind into 3rd is common?

anyone have one over 60k miles? notice any drag in performance?

i hang out with muscle car guys, so i plan to supercharge this, or maybe spray. anybody able to take an 02 trans am? cause thats my goal. lol

Welcome to the site.

You can drive the S in teh snow and there are those that do. Most importantly is to get a GOOD set of snow tires.

There are also many that have over 60,000 miles. I haven't heard of any drop in performance if the car has been taken care of.

I haven't heard of any races against a Trans Am per say, but I don't hang out in the 'Street Encounters' section of any forums.

Once again, welcome and good luck with the purchase of your new car.

I know for a FACT that the last year of production of the S2000 is 2003!!!!!
After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.

Welcome aboard. Are you talking about the WS6? I don't think a stock S will run with a WS6. A supercharger will get you to that kind of performance or better.

As gomarlins said there are a lot of people that use their S2000's in the snow. As long as it not too deep and you have a good set of snow tires you will be fine.

60,000 miles for an S2000 is cake. I've heard of people taking their S2000 to the track at over 100,000 miles with no problems. The car just has to be taken care of. And as far as known problems there are a few, but they are mostly minor.

Aaay Kev. Welcome to our encounter group.
All the guys've fed you good info. Only one thing I might add: snow tires are a big plus, n' Stewie either needs them, r', a good set of all-seasons. But the down-side of the all-seasons is that in the summer they don't give you the traction that a good set of summer-specific tires'll give you, so, I'm a firm believer in two sets of tires n' rims to be applied as the season dictates.
N' no matter what you're runnin' for rubber, Stewie's tendencies towards oversteer are only magnified by the lessened traction of foul weather.
Foul weather drivin' with Stewie always demands full attention and large helpin's of common sense.
Stewie is, after all, a driver's car.
Be well.
