new member with a 2007 S2000

Did a lot of research and test drives on all sorts of sports cars. Tried the Nissan 350Z, BMW Z4, Mazda RX7, Pontiac Sotice, etc.... Nothing blew me away until I sat in then drove the S2000. Like sitting in a race car with great handling abilities. And with the price around $32K - how can I justify spending $15K more for the BMW with less horsepower - or about $8K more for the 350Z (this was a close 2nd) - then the Mazda was a bit too small and looked more like a girly car.

I just hope it holds up to all the mileage I do in a year (around 25K).

Now for some nitpicking items that I noticed before I bought it - but they were nowhere bad enough to stop me from purchasing her.

Altough the S2000 is a beaut - I was wondering who designed the radio control buttons by the start button. I can understand having push buttons for the Mute and Channel change - but the button designed for switching between AM - FM - CD is kind of odd. It looks like it should turn as well as be pressed - just a bad design.

Also - why can't Honda offer heated seats?

And best of all - whats with the cover you have to manually put on when you put the top down? Looks like this thing won;t last long - nor will the snaps last. Real hard to put on - was afraid I'd scratch the car when doing so. and when you put it in the trunk it takes up a lot of room.

If you look at the dash, you will notice that the left side (radio controls) is designed to be symmetrical with the right side (HVAC control side). Other than the color of the 'Start' button, the sides look the same.

I know for a FACT that the last year of production of the S2000 is 2003!!!!!
After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.

Honda wanted the car to as close as it could to being the like roadsters of the past. They didn;t have heated seats so I guess this one didn't either. They also didn't have automatic tops, but let's not get all caveman or something. You can create your own heated seats by going to one of these sites and purchasing thier products.
Duetto Motors LLC - Seat Heaters
Seat Heater for Cars and Trucks from HeatedSeatKits.com
Heated Car Seats – Automotive Seat Heaters – Check Corporation

The site is not cooperating so I will have to try to post the installation instructions from home.

I can't get the instructions to post here for some reason. If you would like a copy of them, PM me and I will try to send them that way.

Aaay Ed. Glad to hear (but not the least bit surprised) that you're enjoyin' yourself.
As for Stewie not keepin' up with your 25 thou a year, not bloody likely. As this Ford man has godda admit: Mother Honda cobbled us a well put together ride. And red-faced, I can attest to it's ability to withstand considerable abuse (another time).
Regardin' the cover for the retracted top: it's intention is to cover the unsightliness. I godda admit that lookin' at the car when I'm out of it n' the top's down . . it's not one of it's better lookin' points.
But my favorite view is from the cockpit, n' the look from there is the finest kind.
I've also godda question the wisdom of anything that takes away from the ability to pop the top up in what? 6 seconds?
Right now it may be overshadowed by so many other of Stewie's attributes, but sooner r' later you'll find that a very pleasant by-product of the ability to put the top up so quickly, is how, on an almost-rainy day, you can bring utter disappointment to faces of the hardtoppers aroun' you at a light when it starts to rain n' you make a top materialize, seemingly out'a nowhere.
But, it's one'a those things that's godda be experienced to really be appreciated.
Not havin' anything impedin' that 6 seconds allows for alot more time with the top down in questionable weather.
N' then there's the fact that at over, oh, roughly 45 miles per hour normal rain r' snow doesn't enter the car. Lots'a nice points to havin' a roadster.
Hope you're gettin' as much cockpit time as you can. It's the familiarity that only comes with lots'a cockpit time that allows us to really appreciate what Stewie can do in the twistys.
Congrats Ed. Wear it in good health.

Welcome to the site and enjoy! AS far as the controlls go I really like the way they set this up and I think you will too once you get used to it, it's kind of like a motorcycle, everythings right there and easy to get to without taking your eyes off that up coming hairpin curve!!! Heated seats? If you need to get warmed up take it to the redline.

Hey guys, fairly new here as well. I joined to give some feedback but found i kept coming back for the good material.

I recently bought mine in the beginning of Feb (2007 blue), and found some similar issues. I love the car but there are some oddities. The radio controls do seem odd. I would kill for a seek control on the radio... Also one thing that caught be off guard is the brake pedal feedback you get. Maybe its because the last car i had was a 1990 Civic CRX, but it caught me off guard. By the way, just to check... the pedal is supposed to vibrate when ABS kicks in right?

Some of these new features of the last two decades are too fancy for my blood, for one AC, went four years without. Is there a way to turn it off as apposed to turning the fan on low? I find that no matter what i do at speed ram air drives air through the vents and brings heated air into the cabin.

Overall love the car, couldn't be happier. I bought it to drive, not listen to the radio, have heated seats, etc etc.

Aero, recirc with the fan off should stop the air flow.

The vibration you feel under ABS is the ABS modulating the brake fluid for you. Just doing what it's designed to do, perfectly normal when the ABS is activated.
