Looking at purchasing a 2001 S and need some advice

Hello,

I am looking at purchasing a 2001 S2000 with 3400 miles. Yes, that's right. It was a one owner 4th car so I don't know if that's good that it wasn't driven much. It's black with gray leather and has a rear spoiler. Black top. The dealer is asking $23,900. I live in Pennsylvania. Is that a fair price or too high and is that year a good year? Any advice or pointers would be much appreciated!

Thanks.

Sounds like a good buy. Interesting about the grey interior though. Usually they are red or black. If you buy it, have all the fluids changed (oil/filter, tranny, diff, brakes, clutch, etc.) just so you know they were done and when they were done.

I know for a FACT that the last year of production of the S2000 is 2003!!!!!
After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.

Aaay Ice, that sounds like a good deal. N' as the weather warms the chances of this creampuff still bein' there lessen like the chances of snowfall.
With that few miles it's highly unlikely that it's suffered anything "detrimental" to it's health n', not for it's few miles, but, for the years that it's sat aroun' gatherin' dust, Go's concern about changin' the fluids is legitimate.
'Didn't know that they had a gray interior, but then, I'm no expert.
So, it sounds like you might've tripped on a deal Ice. If it works out, best of luck with it.
Now for the hard part: keepin' it out'a the trees until you get a feel for it's n' your limits. Wear it in good health.
Be well.

Sounds like a good deal. If I was in the market for one I would jump on that one. You MIGHT be able to talk them down a little on the price. Good luck!

Respect

Like Java said..driving this car will take a little getting use to. if you haven't driven a rear wheel drive sports car before, this will be quite an experience for u. owning a great sports car is an awesome feeling, but learning to respect and appreciate its power is, in itself, even more important.

If the car does in fact have gray leather I would be concerned because that is not factory original so why was it changed. Of course one persons gray is another's charcoal is any others black so I suspect that the interior is in fact VERY dark gray . As to the price. Boy I don't know. If all checks out you figure that's 10K less then an a 2007 so it would work for me. Just do the work and make certain all is as stated. If so and you like the car and the color pull the trigger. Let us know on that interior please. JEH

The price is a little high for the year even with those miles. You can probably get an 03-04 with low miles for that money. I would want to be around the 20k-21k or so mark. Just an opinion from someone in the business. But if you like it a good price is what you are happy with.

All depends what the dealer has in the car. My guess is without a trade you likely could get a couple K off the 24. Then again the weather is warming up. Car will sell soon. If the car is "new" then seems to me its a a big savings over a new 2007 which will be nearly 10k more not figuring taxes or interest over the term of the loan (if there is one). Car deals are car deals. There is always another car around the corner. That being said a guy has to has to know when to move. If the car is right and it's what I really want then I would make an offer and see what happens. Check eBay completed sales on these cars and see what the real world numbers are on the car. That will tell you what you should have to spend. JEH

Try and get the name of the former owner and call them for verification.

That is, if the dealer doesn't have anything to hide !!!

Yeah, you can get an '03 for $23-24k with low mileage and it comes with a glass back window. Don't pay more than $21k.
