New from California

Hello - We originally intended on purchasing our dream car after the last of our six boys graduated from high school. However, an unbelievable deal came up from a friend in SoCal on a 2003 titanium silver and we pulled the trigger. It's offically my wife's car, but she does share We both owned sports cars pre-kids (280 Z, MG's) and have missed having fun cars. What an incredible vehicle is the S2000! I look forward to searching through the posts, with an emphasis on some minor tuning, before adding any of my own.

I'll get some pics up soon.

Cheers

Doug

I know for a FACT that the last year of production of the S2000 is 2003!!!!!
After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.

We bought the car from Toyota of Huntington Beach, where we are friends with the sales manager. We live in Turlock in the Central Valley. The S2000 is rare enough in our area that we've been getting many "thumbs up" from other drivers

I explored the site last night and look forward to checking it out daily. Thanks to all for the kind words of welcome.

Hello all!
This message is from Doug's wife - THE OWNER of the S2000! It really is an absolutely amazing car to drive - shifts like a knife through soft butter, and I blow teenage boys away at intersections! (Yes, I'm a 45yr. old mother of 6, but that doesn't mean I'm dead!) My husband calls me "Michael Schumaker", but I prefer to be called Kimi!!

Actually, I want a Borla or Invidia exhaust and Michelin Pilot series tires. I'm leaving the stock rims on 'cuz I really like them! (This is the wife speaking again!) What do you guys/gals recommend?

Hi everyone! I am the true owner of our S2000! I learned how to drive in a 1976 Datsun 280z, our family owned 5 z's, and we even went on road rallies with the Northern CA Z Owners Assoc.! Nothing compares to my new baby girl! I love the visceral reaction I get from men/boys, and even some other women! The sales mgr. from Huntington Beach Toyota accidentally said, "Doug, does your wife realize that it's a 6-speed??" After I smacked him, I showed him how a real woman drives a sports car! 0-60 in under 10 seconds baby! (My husband swears I was a race car driver in my previous life, or a Marine drill sgt., but that's another story Needless to say, I love my car! My poor hubby got a bit huffy this morning, as he wanted to "top-down" her to work, and I said "no" as my boys have golf camp and then I kck their butts for the top 9. One has to take their sports car to the golf course right???!!! Have a great weekend to all!

Jonna (Doug's better half!)

I'd save the big bucks that the Pilots'd set'cha back guys. There's rubber out there that's as good r' better n' it ain't gonna cost you as much.
Check aroun' n' then make sure you also check with the folks at TireRack. They've got the latest info n' more of it than most of us could put together in one place at one time.
I'm still runnin' my stock 'Stones for the warmer months n' Dunlop WinterSports for the sloppy stuff. 'Can't speak highly enough of the Dunlops in the winter.
Be well.

Totally agree with Java! Although the Michelin's may be a good tire, there are others available that are just as good, but don't cost nearly as much. Since you own an '03, I was just on the Tirerack's website yesterday and saw that they still have the OEM Bridgestone S02's and they are discounted! The S02's are pretty unmatched for grip in dry weather. The Goodyear F1 GS-D3 is probably the best all-around tire on the market right now and they are much cheaper than Michelins. But, do your homework before buying. It can save maybe hundreds of dollars.

I really like my Riken Raptors (owned by Michelin). They're grippy and I paid an average of $80 each installed & balanced at Tire Pros.

What a small world. I lived in HB for many years and also lived in Fresno. Too bad you didn't have the car or knew of the site before June 1st, you could have attended SacS2KDays VI this year. That is the annual event held in the Sacramento area. It's a three day event that includes a vendor day and a two day drive up to Reno through the hills and back through Tahoe on day three. An event worth going to, trust me. I will keep the site informed when/if there is a SacS2KDays VII.
