New Owner
Just bought a 06 S2000, Black (the fastest color) 5400 mi. Bought it in Texas.
I live in B.C. so my wife and I will be going on a road trip to Dallas in January and a fun drive back home to White Rock. Can't wait! Cheers |

That could be an interesting drive depending on the way you decide to return to B.C. S2k's don't work too well in snow...

Yes, I thought of that. I think if we go Texas, New Mexico, Nevada, California, Oregon, Washington, should be ok.

Good luck with your purchase, Ive had mine for about 8 weeks. The more you drive the better it is. If your not used to a clutch dont forget keep your foot off while crusing.

I just bought my silver 05 S2000 with the whorehouse black and red upholstery from a Seattle dealer for $22500 Canadian [$23500 US]. It's just like my previous supercharged Miata only MORE SO. Adequate room [I'm 5'11", 200 lbs, wonderful everything [gearbox, engine, handling, steering, seats, top...].
As close to perfect as anything is likely to get in this life, I think. eric in Victoria BC |

PS - I saved about $11000 by importing it from the USA. Importing is straight ahead if you do your homework and get the paperwork done, before you go stateside to get the car.

Just imported my F1R October 2007 cost $ 29,600.00 US bought the car at par. Canadian dealers at $ 50,000 +
Note: you may have to pay an import tax at the border of 6.1% due to the fact that the vehicle was manufactured outside of the US. |

Neil, did you have to pay import tax? Anyone else in Canada? An extra 6% is a lot.

Hi Gearhead and Neil from another Canadian ( Ontario )
It seems like at lot of us are on to a good thing by judging the amount of us canucks that have suddenly came out of the woodwork. I bought my '05 about six weeks ago from the U.S. ( $23,00) including shipping dor to door. If you guys have any questions etc. give me a hollar...don't forget the daytime running lights big bucks Enjoy the ride and have fun on the forum, best group of car guys I've come across yet!

I got lucky, paid my g.s.t. thats all.
Pending on the person at the border. 2007 came with daytime running lights, they say that they are not up to spec but I had no problem with the inspection in Canada ( you pay for it at the border when you bring the car in ) Enjoy your ride, time goes quickly |

After I picked up my car in the US I also found out that there are people who actually pick your car up and deliver it to your door, they do all the customs paperwork to. But at what cost I do not know.
But what I do know is that I am alerady looking for another US vehicle, and will be checking out other options for transportation accross the border. |

Hey Neil,
I used a customs broker for my import. They charged me $150.00 in fees, would have preferred to save the money but it would have meant going to the border. I also had my car shipped from Ohio to Burlington, the total cost for that was $750.00 for door to door delivery, When I spoke to the driver he told me he was 6 hours at the border so when all is said and done I think I saved at lot when thinking about my time, the cost of getting to the car to pick it up and the aggravation factor cheers

Hey Daddy your car looks good, did you buy private or from a dealer.
You should be still good for warrenty for one year, and three years on the transmission. I made a contact with a dealer before coming home with the car for any warrenty work required in tthe US. If you need warrenty at any time let me know I have names and numbers. |

Sugest you go the 101. It tends to snow a lot on the I-5 and the scenery is spectacular in Oregon on the coast. Also, the roads are quite twisty when you leave California. More suited to the car.

Hey Gear head
Way to go . We bought an 06 white in colour from Colorado Springs 2 months ago 2156 miles on it when we picked it up. With a name like gear head you should be driving an old chevy. Lucky you for waiting into winter and the stronger dollar. I knew we should have also but had a need for a little white car with low mileage. Phil from Kelowna |
