Welcome to the site. I see you swapped the radio door to the AP2 version. Enjoy the drive.

I know for a FACT that the last year of production of the S2000 is 2003!!!!!
After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.

Watched the vid. Any critters down your way? I saw a whitetail total a caddy. Man you drive fast. Try this sometime. At night, at 65 miles per hour, slam on the brakes when you see a sign or something and see if you can stop in time to keep from hitting it(in theory). Then try it at 80. then 105. It's called overrunning your lights and I cant help thinking "what if".
Sorry for the lecture.

So in late May we're having the Boone Blast in beautiful (really hilly and curvy) Boone, NC. You going to be there?

I jus' watched the vid n' I godda second H2s suggestion Ev, except that, I'm thinkin' that you're unusually gifted with the computer n' you're havin' a bit'a sport with us.
You came up on no lap markers n' didn't even have one vehicle comin' a'cha from the opposite direction? Dunno Ev. 'Don't often see that kind'a isolation happen no mo'.
But, I'm figurin' that you've taken us for a ride, one way 'r t'other. Wuz fun, thanks.
No jokin' about H2s suggestion though Ev. Those speeds have you overdrivin' Stewiez most excellent headlamps, but those most excellent headlamps are most excellent forward n' less so side to side. Critter impacts're most likely to appear from the immediate sides while your attention'z at the most extreme forward edges'a Stewiez most excellent headlamps.
Lets be careful out there,
Java

Yeah... deer down here is by the millions this year it seems. And you are right... it's a risk driving that fast at night. Hell, it's a risk driving that fast period. And you could definitely what if a situation like that to death. Just like you could what if a bungie jump, or snowboarding down an 85 degree mountain. All "extreme" situations are people acting stupid... to get that bit of exhilaration out of life. I don't condone the act... I just perform it.

I'm really wanting to try out these mountain runs. I wanna do the Boone Blast and Wake the Dragon 08. I think those would be a TON of fun. Not to mention seeing all those S2k's in one spot... wheres the napkins!

Appreciate the compliments Java. Yeah... I should probably get some of those giant PIAA lights and mount them on the roof in all directions. lol I've hit some critters going high speeds and it does not make your car look pretty... that's for sure. If you guys can point me in the direction to some road-racing style tracks in the NC area... I'll get a helmet and take my no-fear-of-speeds mentality there and see what I can do.

Rockingham has a really good road course that uses a lot of the infield. VIR in Danville, VA is an excellent road course. Charlotte Motor Speedway has an excellent infield road course. Rockingham and Charlotte don't have elevation changes but they have some of the tightest "S's" and chicanes you've ever seen. And if you don't mind driving to Flowery Branch, GA, Road Atlanta will make you appreciate the S2k handling.

Five years of SCCA/IMSA racing does that to you....been from Lime Rock, CT to West Palm Beach, FL to Mid-Ohio to Laguna Seca, CA. on the circuit. Makes you tired, hungry and poor...

Excellent suggestions... appreciate it.

What kind of requirements do they have for the car? Do they have a stock class so I don't have to install rollcages and such? I know nothing about the technical-requirements side of trying to race at tracks... I just know you need a helmet. What about cost to race? Also, I assume car and health insurance is required? Would love some insider info. I've tried looking around on the SCCA website... but it's a bit convoluted.

If you want to seriously race, you need the SCCA rule book before you do anything. Then you need a roll-cage (unless you want to run show-room stock and I don't have any idea what those rules are), then you need Nomex, lots of Nomex, and a helmet. Tracks don't supply insurance and your insurance company will disown you faster than an ex-mother-in-law. I've never raced in stock classes, so any information here is strictly what I gained over adult beverages with other drivers and pit crew (with the exception of buying the handbook, the roll-cage, the nomex and helmet).
