Midlife Crisis

I took the sports car plunge yesterday and began my "mid-life crisis."
I stumbled upon a Silver 2001 S2K with 51K miles and brand new Bridgestone Potenza tires on it. The seller was a friend who was meticulous about maintenance and drove it as a weekend car. It will be a daily driver for me. I am 6'2" and 235 pounds . . . my wife says I look like Mr. Incredible's civilian alter ego driving his little roller skate in the movie. My only upgrade plans are for the stereo: http://s2000.com/forums/south/3465-a...edmont-nc.html Pictures are forthcoming . . . meanwhile I'm happy to be here.

Welcome aboard slot, pull a keg up'ta the potbellied n' set a spell.
'Sounds like you've gotten yourself a well-cared for ride. Wear it in good health. There is some adjustments that have to be taken into consideration, but with normal caution n' alodda time spent in the driver's seat (okay, time drivin' in the driver's seat. Jus' sittin' in the garage goin' "vrooooom" don't count) will allow you to adapt nicely. 'Lookin' forward to yer input. Be well, Java

Welcome to the site for all views.
Sounds like you got a good vehicle, enjoy it and let us know how your getting on with your new ride. I bet the seat is a little tight going off your body dimensions, but what the heck you only get to go around once. I purchased my new s2000 this year and I am 45. My wife thinks I look like an old fart in a shiny new sports car. Water off a ducks back buddy. Lts put it this way you won't be sorry you bought the car. Good luck Ont Can |

Welcome to the site bro!
You're gonna love this car. A perpetual smile should be appearing on your face, even as we speak ! I haven't driven a roadster that is 'funner" to drive than our S2K. Don't forget the pics !

Nice, and I totally relate. Best part is my wife sanctioned the 'mid life car', in fact talked me into it. 6'2" 230 and no problems at all fitting. I found that putting the seat one notch forward let me angle it back a notch and then I fit so nice I don't like to get out (and it's great back therapy!).
Welcome, =scott |

A better stereo keeps you from hearing that little voice in your head. You know, the one that tells you to take that 40 miles per hour curve at 70? The one that keeps saying, "vtec me, vtec me, oooh baby, vtec me".
Welcome aboard

Nice to see even more folks of "refined, mature character" join the site...
As for a mid-life crisis car, you can't do much better. Tons of s2k stuff to learn from the senior members of this site... I'm still just scratching the surface..... |

My upgraded stereo is about the best I have ever heard. I drive without it to hear the car and with it to hear the music.
