New Owner
Just bought a 2007 S2000....WOW!
The best part is it was my wife's idea to purchase the car instead of a new truck. 140 miles on it in 2-days and I started hearing a rattle when braking...very slight. Seems to be coming from right rear and is louder when backing. Also notice black brake dust on inner fender lip and a little on the rear quarter panel. Anyone had similar problems right off the bat? |

Best'a luck with your new ride n' welcome aboard J.
Brake dust happens. 'Comes with the territory if yer seriously drivin' it. (Ask Vez) As for noises at this early point'a the game, one word: dealer. You jus' spent a whole bunch'a hard-earned with the fella. Ledd'im satisfy your questions for ya n', should the unlikely occur n' a problem pop up down the line, by bringin' it in it's already been documented. But, check the archived threads n' posts on the subject. It's not uncommon n' it's not ta worry. Be well, n' again, welcome ta the best Stewie site on the boards. Java

Me to about the brake dust, seemed to be every time I would take it out I would end up cleaning the wheels especially the front wheels. Now I have only 840 miles on the car and it seems that the initial brake dust problem is going away. I think it is the pads bedding in from new.
Lucky man having a wife that prefers the S2000 over a practical vehicle. Mine was not so happy ( and its just a summer car for us ) Good luck with your car , keep us posted Neil |

Rattle problem solved.......
Road debri penetrated the plastic splash guard in front of the passenger rear tire. Luckily, only damage was the hole in the guard. It was a piece of steel rod about 1/8" in dia and 13" long. I thought it was a support for the splash guard when I first saw it! Houston Tx roadways are increadible for this sort of thing! I actually think I picked it up when I left the dealer. Remember hearing a noise that sounded like something hitting the bottom of the car. Thanks for the feedback on the brake dust... Turned 50 last Aug, got my AARP card and a S2K....sweet. Only other car I owned that came anywhere close was a 71 240Z...but that was soooooo long ago that the engineering, etc. just does not compare. |

Welcome to the site and congrats on the new car. It is always helpful when the Mrs. is behind the purchase.
It looks like the guys have already helped with the dust issue. Enjoy the drive.

I had a piece of a coat hanger for an antenna and it fell off, not enough duct tape. Please send that back to me.

i bought a new 2007 berlina black back in november. as you say, a lot of brake dust. i've put some miles (3000) on it, just to get acquainted. i have yet to drive it in the wet, and it is supposed to rain here tonight, and tomorrow, so perhaps i will gain some more experience. it is faster and quicker than anything i have ever owned, so i am taking java's advice about finding the quirks and edges. it is also the most fun car i have ever driven. and it is nice to know that i am not the only mid-life-crisis out there.

I've been around long enough to have used a few clothes hanger for antennaes. Had a 64 Ford Falcon back in the day with numerous modifications like that ( Wood panneling for door panels, etc)
Taking the S2K on its first road trip tomorrow. Can't wait.
