New guy

Hello everyone, I'm currently thinking about buying a s2k.
I'm looking into a 04', but first I have a question. Whats the difference between a 00'-03' and a 04'+?
From my understanding, the 03' have 16" and the 04's are 17" wheels.
The front bumper got a new design, is there anything else besides that?

If you do a search you will find the answers you seek.

'00-'03= AP1
'04- present= AP2

AP1= 240 HP/153 tq. engine that revs to 9,000 RPM's, stiffer rear suspension, different diff housing, and some other little things.

AP2= 237 HP/162 tq engine that revs to 8300 RPM's (I believe), softer suspension, newer diff housing, ALL years have glass rear window and front tweeter speakers, tow cup holders instead of one, DBW and VSC on some years.

I know for a FACT that the last year of production of the S2000 is 2003!!!!!
After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.

Most the changes are between the 03 and04.

03 and earlier have a 2.0 liter, 240 hp, 9000 rpm redline, VTEC kicks in around 6000 rpm, tighter suspension.

04 has 2.2 liter, 240 hp, VTEC kicks in a bit lower, supposed to have more low end power (so you don't need to wind up quite so tight before the VTEC throws your head back), redlined just above 8000 rpm I think. Suspension was softened 10% on the rear, and tightened by about 6% on the fronts.

The other guys can fill you in more on other details, or you can do some digging on the internet to get more of a description of the changes.

Some'a those changes might make a difference to ya Lee, n' some might not.
'Bottom line is: with either one you will not be disappointed. They're both fantastic, but . . if you consider yourself a driver, you owe it to yourself to try both to see which one fits your style'a drivin' better.
Yeah. They're that refined.
Good luck n' like the ol' knight said . . . . . choose wisely.

Personally, I'd go with the latest of each model - if you want an AP1 I'd go with the 2003, if AP2 get the latest year you can find a good deal on!

Thanks for all of the input. After reading the post DJJSR posted, I have decided to go with a AP1, because I do plan on tuning the car.
