Looking to Buy an S2000

Hello.... I am very soon about to buy an s2000.. I have looked at so many lately that I have so many questions about them.. Like what is the best year for one... I heard that the 01 was the fastest stock... What is the difference in the ap1 and ap2... Most of all what do i need to look for when buying my s2000....

Howdy lev and welcome, you came to the right place. My first advice is to use the search bar, there are tons and tons of threads answering just what you're asking! Also check out wikipedia for a nice history, and there actually are better ones here as well.

However, to answer you, what you need to look for depends on what you want. From your start it looks like you're looking for speed, and truly they're all fast and well engineered, I don't think any year stands out as "fastest". AP1 ran through 03 so I personally like the 03 since they tinker with it a bit every year so I consider it the best AP1. AP2 has been great since then, the later you can get the better, for the same reason.

The basic difference is the engine and suspension - in 04 they changed to a 2.2 liter redlining at 8K instead of the 2.0 at almost 9K. They also changed the handling a bit and made a smoother ride, which is why I traded in my 03 for an 07 since I mostly use it for commuting. However, every year has the grin factor, so if you find a good deal grab it! If you want a drag car, this isn't it, but if you want a mountain runner there's nothing better since it "handles turns like a slot car". I'd say if you can, drive a few and then decide. I do recommend that you buy from Honda, especially if it's certified, because then you don't have to worry about the small stuff and can just enjoy this beautiful beastie.

Thanks you guys for helping me out. Right now I am looking at an 01 for about 14000... Is there anything I need to pay close attention to when looking at this car.
