New s2000 owner from Santa Monica
Howdy everyone.
I just moved to Santa Monica from Toronto, Canada, and it seemed like a natural next step to get a convertible. Since I've always loved high-revving performance cars like the rx-7, the s2000 seemed like a natural choice, and consumer reports said its reliability and customer satisfaction were amazing. So, I searched dilligently for 2 months, and yesterday I finally sealed the deal and bought my s2000 from a dealer in San Diego. It's a 2005, and pretty much stock, with the exception of the rims, exhaust, and shifter. One other thing I'm thinking of doing is changing the logos from the H to the S, and maybe painting the brake callipers black with silver s2000's on them - still looking into how to do that exactly. So, yesterday, once I got back from San Diego, I took Kit (the name I've decided to give my car) for a long 6-hour maiden voyage up and down the beautiful windy canyon roads north of malibu. I'm now completely obsessed. It's all I can think about... it's in my dreams... the rest of the day is just insubstantial things that serve only to seperate the times in my S... I hope to take kit to the track really soon - maybe willow springs - I heard that was a good place to go. I've been waiting my whole life for this. I'm so happy. Here are a few pics of my new pride and joy.... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() So, I'm really excited to be an authentic s2000 community member, and I hope I to have a long, fruitful relationship with my car and this community, and to give back as much as it has given to me. Can't wait to meet some of you at upcoming s2000 owner's meets!! Last edited by r0tt3n; 06-02-2008 at 01:57 AM. |

Nice Car..welcome.
I must tell you..a shift knob..any shift knob...even a potato, will open up a whole new world of driving pleasure! I like the quad exit pipes. What brand are they? Don't see that often. |

Thanks guys - I'm SOOO happy to be aboard, and really appreciate all the warm welcomes. These photos I showed here were all taken by the dealer whom I bought the car from, and for some reason they the shift knob was missing in the photos, even though the car has one now ... I would never drive a car without a shift knob if I can help it ... I should totally photoshop one on, haha.
Yeah, the quad exhaust pipes are pretty sweet - I'm pretty sure they're UUC motorwerks - not positive, but pretty certain. lol@potato shifter - I'll have to try that some time - how hilarious would that be... |

Haha Jimbo, you've been telling all the newbs to go looking for this. I'll google it, but I have my doubts such a compartment exists...
Thanks Lonestar... man this car is soooo deserved of a fanatical fanbase like we are providing it... |

Google will take all the fun out of it. You gotta have that "Aha!" moment. I was bummed that the guy I bought my S from showed it to me.

Damn, I don't think I would have ever found that without help... I'm 6'3... there's no way I would have ever been low enough to look up and see that latch... what an incredible aha moment that was - Jimbo, you rule!
A few things dawned on me immediately after playing with the secret compartment for a while... a) damn this is cool b) damn that's an inefficient usage of space c) maybe I should rip it out and install a custom center console that makes better use of it... anyone ever tried taking it out and putting something a little more spacious in there? That would have to be ultra custom for the s2000 since the truck button is in the forward-facing portion... |

heh, by the crown do you mean the queen of england? It's surprising how few people know that Canada is still a commonwealth of England, operating with the official rubber stamp blessing of the almighty Queen Elizabeth the whateverith...

Welcome! You have a beautiful new car there, looks flawless!
Congrats also on the move from Canada, what a change! (PS- The dealerships usually take the shift knobs off of these cars, down here at least, because they are very frequently stolen )

I highly recommend the tater knob. Once the sun softens it a bit, it kinda molds to the shape of your hand. The only downside is that after about a month it starts sprouting and feels a little odd.

Nice spud Knob DJ. Where'd you get that? Is it from Rick's? Here in California, we use avocados. Some of the health-nuts use tofu (but you have to get the firm stuff).
