New guy with some questions

Hey guys new here, Soon to be owner of an S2k but i had a few questions i see this whole AP1 AP2 thing i did some research seems to be the older model is the 1 and newer the 2, anyways whats the big differences? Should I be that concerned when buying one or just go towards lowest miles? Also I was looking into selling my motorcycle to get a supercharger, but It may just be a little too much money but that would leave me with around 5000 to spend now what are the best things to do to one of these things to get the most out of them of course i would like to first get a nice set of rims for it out of that 5000 so that leaves me with roughly 4000 to spend on parts any info will be great thanks and look forward to all the info thanks

IMHO, learn to drive the car to it's potential. Put the money in the bank where it can grow with compounding interest. When you can make the car live up to it's capability, you'll know what to do. And you'll have more money.

Yes learning the car is the biggest first step. Some time with an instructor on a track as the next wouldn't hurt either.

Some differences....

AP1= 9k rev limiter, AP2= 8k rev limiter
Headlights are different, AP2 has bigger wheels and fatter rear tires.
Older modles have a plastic back window instead of glass. I would stay away from that.

If your going to be putting a nice set rims on her then look for them to be about $1200-$1500, unless you cheap out and get some that looks retarded.

GL with your search.

i just upgraded to the greddy t69 chick magnet. coupled with the EMS and turbo timer, you can run upwards of 69 psi (paramagnetic sensory ions) of chick boost. that's far more potent than the ap2's 24 psi.

Go with the AP1 of course. They look way better and rev to 9k. Go to www.discounttiredirect.com they got some sick wheels and tires for dirt cheap.

AP1 or AP2, they're both great cars. We just have a little sibling rivalry going on here.

The way I look at it is that Honda built a great car for a few years with the AP1. Then they figured out how to make it even better and built the AP2.

That's my take on it and I'm stickin to it. Everyone else is wrong.

Incorrect...'02 and '03 AP1's have glass windows and IMO are the best models.

I agree with this idea!!!
After roughly more than 3000 miles on mine, I am enjoying the car everytime I drive and turn. The only mod on mine is an invidia exhaust, but without any mod, I am sure you will enjoy how it handles.
Philiam's right! Save your money and wait for the right thing!!!

I know that, I was refering to 00,01, and yes 02 because not all 02's have the glass back window's.

This is what my research led me to believe before purchasing.....They are the perfected AP1s.......When buying an AP2, you just go as new as you can afford.

Preference? Nah....they're both good choices.

Headers = waste of money. They are not going to get you any power. Even the expensive Spoon Headers only get 1-2 hp.

Exhaust is a nice place to start if you have the money. Nice sound (Invidia V2), and some performance gain. (Maybe 4-5 hp). Plus you drop about 35 - 40 pounds in weight.

Intake is a nice mod caouse you engine will sound GREAT. This combined with an exhaust is the best 1-2 punch for upgrades for this car when it comes to sound and maybe getting around 6 - 8 hp.

FYI - Mods on a S2K don't give much by way of power. Honda did a great job of getting all they could out of it. For any significant gains, FI is the way to go. But get used to the car and start with and Intake and Exhaust.

Just my 02.

I don't think I'm going to agree with this...the right header will give you power where the S2000 needs it the most, in the midrange below VTEC. There was a noticeable difference in torque and power when I installed the Mugen header. I have no idea about the Spoon header because I prefer equipment built by the racing section of Honda. If anyone knows how to get more power out of a S2000, it's Mugen.

if you want the best of both worlds go with the CR, it has the tighter steering of the AP1, a stiffer suspension, and the outer body of the AP2, really does not get any better then that... IMO

Now all it needs is AP1 RPM and AP1 gearing, THEN it would be the best of both worlds.
