Possible new s2000 owner, what to look for?
Hey everyone,
Names, Shane, per my sig, i'm just tired of my civic, I hope to soon post my new ride on this site. My gf's dad is getting his dealers license and will soon be able to take me to the dealer auctions. Told me that we can go anywhere in the country, is there any region that has cheaper/in better condition s2000's then others? I was thinking maybe FL has a good amount of em on the cheaper side, wanna spend 10-15k What should I look for when examining them? I know typical abuse signs, what about cylinder # 4 issues I've been told about, or people over-reving them, any good rules to go by? Thanks! Any advice is much appreciated beforehand.

get the car fax unlimited subscriptions for a month... that's a good $35 investment. you should have no problems anywhere with your price range. try to get one that has not been modded... it will be a better blank slate for you and you never know just how good the previous work was. i think you will definitely find a good deal in illinois. you can find some higher mileage (50-75k) ap2's for that price or even some lower mileage ap1's. i got mine not too long ago. it's a 2002 (ap1) with only 9000 miles on it. it was not too far away from your price point at all and i imagine it would have been even cheaper at auction.
just take your time, you will know her when you see her.

Lonestar'z advice to stay away from modded unitz is golden.
If it's been left stock, it's likely it's as reliable as any other Honda. Modded, you got no idea whut kind'a trouble you gonna see. Maybe none . . . maybe. Good luck IL, n' like the old knight said . . . . Java
