What to do?? S2K or VW jetta
Whats up everyone, I need some input. K I have a 2001 vw jetta,TDI 5 speed. It gets a little over 500 miles to a tank, and takes 50 or so to fill it up. My brothers wife is wanting to sell her 2002 S2k (glass rear window) soft top-34000 miles immaculate condition, never driven hard. She wants my jetta thats paid for! lol plus $9,000.00- I only paid $7,000 for jetta and is my daily driver. Is the S2k good as a daily driver. I plan on getting me another truck next year. All input greatly appreciated. Concern I guess is little room, and gas mileage. Sorry for such a long post, but I have to make a decision quick.
Thanks |

if you plan to get a truck that solves all your problems. The s does have little space, but that just means less weight and that means more fun.

Why don't you test drive it and tell us what you think about the S2000. What's good to us doesn't mean it's good for you. We love the S2000. That's we're here.

Test drive one. If you're not sold after a spirited drive, this may not be the car for you.
Good luck!

Whu'cha get to a Jetta'z tank'a gas is fine if you're on'a VeeDub site'n everybody'z comparin' notes. If you're concerned about gas mileage'n efficiency, you might be better served stickin' with whu'cha got.
But if you're lookin' for the best therapy known'ta man (and wimmen, and wimmen) don't give yer sister-in-law time'ta change'er mind. As a daily driver it eliminatez all'oze timez when you'd be sayin' "Damn! This'd be a great road for Stewie!" But, it takes the wear'n tear that comez with the territory'uv'a daily driver. For it's size, it's not the greatest on gas when you're dealin' with traffic. On the highway it's alot better. Good luck. Java

You'll be cutting your gas mileage in half. The S is very impractical.
We all drive the S simply because it's a blast to drive. We put up with the downside because we think it's worth it... At the end of the day, it becomes more a question of the life you lead, rather than the car itself. If you CAN drive a roadster... the S is a great choice. |

it's not bad as a daily driver. it's comfortable and get's decent gas mileage (my subaru only got 20 combined, my stewie is around 25 or 26). it also makes the daily commute fun. i spend about 1.5 hours a day in my car and love every minute. my .02: do the stu.
good luck!

If you like the car and how it drives, then I would go for it. If your single I would go for it. Knowing the history and how the vehicle has been driven and maintained could be priceless.
If ya married with three kids, might not be the best choice as the family vehicle. You never know.............this might be the only chance you will ever get.....who knows ! .Hey if you are married with three kids ........still buy the car.... Neil |

If your tdi is a gl 4 door 5 speed with 85k miles youd be "spending" about 18500 for that s2000 which seems a little high to me.

Are you looking for speed and a fun ride? S2k is your car then. If you need a backseat and take people places, Jetta is your car. My friends Jetta has been pretty reliable for him. No problems cause by VW's fault.
Even with a chipped ecu and upping the boost in a Jetta to 19 psi, S2k is still faster. My friend ran the 1/8th in his Jetta with the interior stripped with the mods above and only ran a 10 flat at the track. He can drive as well. S2ks put down high 8 second 1/8th mile times stock.
