Question Possible owner

I am 18 and going to get a new car. I have pretty much no experience with a stick shift, and was just chiming in to see how well the S2K clutch holds up. I was considering an EvoX MR because of the dual clutch automated manual, and for the AWD (i live in CO). Should i get the evo and save up and get an S in a few years?

Please don't flame , any help is appreciated

The S is a good car, but maybe not the best choice for inclement weather... especially in the mountains. I assume you'd be driving it year-round? I know you're not asking for a "Dad" opinion, but I can't help myself. An 18 y/o coming around a snow-covered mountain in a rwd car while learning to drive a stick frightens me. No flame... just my opinion.

To answer your question, the clutch will hold up just fine.

lol i don't live in the mountains. I live in parker, and it is mostly flat here. I want a 2 seater, thats RWD, since mitsu dealers here are crazy. Is auto Z my best bet?

Do yourself a favor. Buy a Forrester, and put the best snow rubber you can find on it.
Stewie ain't your daily driver. Save your pennies , lad.

I should only take you a few days max to learn how to drive a stick. Im 18 and i love my s2000. You just have to respect its power. I learned that the hard way lol

Snow > S2000.
Get an Evo. Great car, and all wheel drive will be nice in your area. I would love to have an Evo! But I would buy it as another car, since nothing can replace my "S"!

i had a forester for a while (2004 XT) and i really enjoyed it. we used to take it up to CO for snowboarding and it was amazing in the snow. definitely would not have a daily driver stewie there though.

Sheesh, learning how to drive a manual in the snow is scary. It's even more frighten when you don't know how to downshift properly in the slippery snow. Go with automatic bro! It's your safest bet!

I wouldn't recommend a 6 speed S2000 as a car to learn shifting a stick. The car was designed for an experienced driver.

If you need an everyday driver and you live in CO and in addition are inexperienced with a stick and rear wheel drive, do yourself a favor and skip the "S". At least for now.

i would recommend an audi a4.. not very powerful off the bat but the new 2.0 turbo engines make quite a bit with just a chip..plus they are AWD and look awesome!

oh and dont get an auto!

I have no doubts that you could learn how to drive the s2k quickly...but i'd be concerned that when the winter does arrive, you'll literally be spinnin your wheels...i know how Denver winters are...you're right outside that area. My company gets a daily truck from you guys up there and in the winters it isn't rare to have it delayed or not delivered because the snow just shuts down the city...Here in Albuquerque we have like one or two snow storms per winter and i wouldn't even think about driving in them with the s2k. I'd say that when you have the ability, get it as a 2nd car, and you can enjoy the nicer weather in CO during the spring/summer/fall, i'd get something with AWD that would be sporty..like an EVO, STI, or Audi...or hell, get a cheap snow beater AND an
s2000!! good luck friend!
