GVWR and payload
I'm looking for some weight measurements. I see the Curb Weight is just over 2800 lbs. Does anyone know what the carry capacity of the car is (paypload)? I've googled and looked around online and in the S2000 brochure from the dealer but can't find anything. I can get the payload also if anyone knows what the GVWR of an S2k is. Either will be very helpfull.

The GVWR weight should be by the VIN in the driver side door well. Im too lazy to look, but thats where its at.
I think it was like 3385 though off the top of my head.

check the inside of the driver's door for a yellow sticker. tire pressure, weight, and cargo info should be there. i believe that the total weight of the passengers and cargo should not exceed 400 pounds. somebody write me if i'm wrong.

thanks for your help. you guys are right. 3385 is it. If you added some aftermarket coil over suspension on it, do you think that would allow you to carry more weight in the car? The payload is only 500+ pounds. With two 200+ lb guys in there, you can't really put much else in there before you exceed the GVWR. Would stiffer springs make it safer, or would that not really make that much difference?

Realistically, going over the payload capacity here and there isn't going to negatively affect the car. Just don't expect the car to handle the same with an obese uncle Bob in the car with a full load of groceries in the trunk.

ya, I know this is different. Most people want to put in a Turbo or S/C, intakes, exhaust... I want to pull all that stuff out, and put in a lot of batteries. I figure I can remove 550-600 pounds of engine/emissions stuff, and then put in 1,000+ pounds of batteries. That is why I'm wondering about the payload of the frame and suspension. The car will probably be 500 lbs heavier then stock when conversion is done. Then 1 or 2 poeple get in... I was just curious if it would take it or will the suspension bottom out on every bump and end up damaging something...
so I may need stiffer springs or coilovers to pump it back up.
