Prospective S owner
Hey guys Ive really been looking hard into getting an s2000.
I currently have a 99 grand prix gtp that runs 14.1s. I hate the suspension and most of all, the automatic tranny, that breaks every 6 months. I dont want to go to a slower car so Im just wondering what kind of times an S runs stock and with basic bolt ons I/E. Also is it reletively easy to get s2000's into the 12s? |

not really. its not designed to be a quick quarter mile car. its more of a track enthusiast car

Without any forced induction aid, you're very unlikely to hit the 12s.

Yeah I know. Turbo or Sup I was just trying to find out how much effort/money it would take to get into the 12s and what they run stock.

Heres some quarter mile times. The best time I've seen stock is 13.6 and that is seriously the best I've seen. Most people will run 13.9 to 14.1. Also most NA mods loose power so FI is what you want.
http://www.dragtimes.com/Honda--S2000-Drag-Racing.html I've only seen 1 supercharger quarter mile slip. It ran a 13 flat and that was the owners first time at the track since going sc with no pulley upgrade.

Don't waste your time or money on the S2000 if "blinding acceleration" is what you crave. Buy a new Camaro, Mustang or Challenger. However, if you have become one of the "enlightened ones" and want to carve up corners and hone your driving skills in a two seat roadster, there is nothing better out there in regards to reliability, build quality, design and price than the S2000. But, be careful as S2000's will bite the unwary. Good luck.

s2000 are nice cars and for people to say you cant drag it isnt the answer I am sure you are looking for. you have to look at it like this no car is really made for draging. any car that you hop into that you drag will eventually break. so it all comes down to how much money you are looking to spend. heres my list so far.
inlinepro rear diff kit-2150.00 act clutch-550.00 turbonetics GT-K 550 1140.00 sidewider manifold-900.00 tial wastgate-250.00 tial bov-240.00 intercooler-300.00 3in exhaust-380.00 aem standalone-900.00 total-6810.00 now thats what I have spent so far I know these prices seem really cheap but I know people I am kinda a bid deal lol. no but seriously thats everything I got so far. there is still some little things I have left to get not to mention the tune. now the kit I am putting together is not the norm you could do it for less. but I just like to make sure that I cover all my basis and not do anything cheaply as I love my car and want it to perform reliably. I have seen this same set up run 400+ hp on 12 pounds of boost with a 3mm headgasket. I hope this answers your question. and If you buy a s2000 you no where to come. And he upgraded all the stuff that breaks when you put that kind of power in an "S". So he will be str8! Killa's car is really nice!

I am not sure what you mean by what kind of performance gains I will get. It looks pretty self explanatory.

if kept the engine ratio at 11.8:1,probably you won't get best hp on F20 and you might suffer problem in valves and cams timing. try to lower the retio by strokers.. ask some prof. about, i had this from somebody gone through.
