New Member Asks,

Hello all, I just found out about the S2K. Never saw one before, but have fallen in love! I grew up driving big block muscle cars maxed out at about 5300 RPM! What RPM do you really wind them out to? And what is the AP1 vs AP2? I'm already scouring the ads looking for my S2000! Thanks.

NEVER saw one before??? Well, glad to hear you've moved out of your cave! J/k. Welcome to the world of this awesome little sportscar.

AP1 & AP2 is just Honda's way of separating the two main "series" of the car. AP1 was from 1999-2003, and AP2 is from 2004-2009. There's a bunch of differences between each year, but the main two are engine displacements & driving characteristics. I'm sure you've read plenty about each. Good luck!

First off welcome to the forum, a great bunch of people on here and you can learn a lot from them, I know I have. Clearly you need to find yourself a very nice low mileage car, you can still find them, I got mine about 2 months ago, an 03 with only 9,800 miles on it. As I have the AP1 it red lines at 9,000 rpm. I took the advice of several different members of the forum and took it easy at first as this is a very special car. But now that I have gotten to know her I have been pushing her more and more, So the other day I did 42 miles per hour in first gear, that was about 8,500 rpm and then hit 63 miles per hour in 2nd gear again about 8,500+ rpm. The thrill was over the top, plus the way the car handles on the twisties, what ever you ask of her she proudly gives it to you. It's a great car you won't be disapointed

Many of us have so many positive things to say about this car but seeing is believing. You should test drive the Ap1/Ap2 and check out the differences. Either way you won't regret whatever one you get.

Go for it, you won't regret it! It's so much better than a boxster.

The ap1 is def the best. You will hate the s2000 if you like big blocks this car has no tq at all. Seriously to get the car moving on a hill you need to push it.

I know for a FACT that the last year of production of the S2000 is 2003!!!!!
After that, it will be the S2200 under an assumed name.

Ap1>AP2 the only thing better about an AP2 is 2 cup holders. No problems reving them to the limit, just don't over rev while downshifting.
