2007 is the last year of the s2000
Yes unfortunately i beleive the last year of the s2000 is this year. I know both a salesman and the mechanic that works at honda and they said they got news that the last s2000's are gonna be the 2007's there will be no 08 s2000's so hopefully they have something decent to replace it.

'Worst case scenario: we've all still got the dates that we walked in with, right? (I know a salesman n' a mechanic????) Be well. Java

Well...it is time...
OK, that is not really true, but this rumor is around since 5 years. So if it is true.... we just added a couple of $$ to our S's.
On the other hand, why would they mess with perfection. Franz |

I agree, I think I've heard this rumor every year since 2002. I'll believe it when Honda stops delivering new S2000's to my local dealership.

Appreciate the heddzupp Neong, n' nobody was doin' anythin' but laughin' at the fact that the rumors r' always bouncin' back n' forth.
But we're gravitatin' towards the Sun, n' the Moon's gravitatin' towards us, n' long before those little annoyances come to pass, we're gonna capsize our ecosystems n' do ourselves to the point that the only dry land'll be mountaintops, fresh water'll be history n' the last remainin' air is not gonna be conducive to the exertion involved in swimmin' to our local Starbucks. So, if Stewie follows the dinosaurs . . But, I godda tell ya, surrounded as you are by some'a the world's best surfin', I'm jealous. Yeah, the grass is always greener, right? Anyway, if you board . . keep it handy. Everybody's gonna wanna be your friend. Without a doubt you're gonna be the one makin' the Starbucks runs. Be well. Java

s2000 cr
aggressively tuned seems to include: no a/c, hard-top, stiffer dampers, no leather, minimal or no radio. obviously these are all speculations as no pics are available anywhere.

We will know more on April 4th. Until then, it's all just speculation.

Looks like a redesign is in store
Honda is previewing a new s2000 CR. The link that follows is from the NY Auto show where they report that Honda will eliminate the soft top and boost up the engine. My guess is that it will become higher priced at $40-50K. You can go to 2007 New York Auto Show: Best Of - AOL Autos to see the new design.

Yeah Red, I was lookin' at that. But, unless I missed it, I didn't see any mention of any differences in the engine bay.
The way the PR guys're pumpin' it up it sounds like it's been gone over, but I don't see how they can sell it to the faithful without some extra 'nads in there someplace. N' I'd think that if there was somethin' extra bein' offered in the way'a power, it'd be one'a the first things out'a their mouths. I'm gettin' the impression that a number of our members with suspension improvements have already achieved, n' probably surpassed "CR" status without the Johnny Lightnin' plastic gee-gaws. (I don't care how much they supposedly help the car stick. I couldn't drive that thing without a full-face) But at least that finally puts an end to all the BS we've hadda endure about "this is it's last year", No! "This is it's last year!", No! . . . ad nauseum. N' is it jus' my wantin' to see 'em, r' does that 2nd shot look like li'l Stewie's wearin' wheels that look remarkably like the old American Racin' 5 spoke Mags? (Scratch that. 'Wishful thinkin') Oh, n' try these:Honda S2000CR -Official debut for lightweight, race-inspired ... Honda Bringing S2000CR To NY Show - The Car Connection Be well. Java

The first link indicates that the HP remains unchanged at 237. I think you're right, Java... This looks like a factory version of what a bunch of the folks on this site have already done with their rides. And still we don't get a stereo that goes to 41!!

I don't believe there were any power upgrades. I just wish they would factory turbo this thing already. Even a small amount of boost would be good.

'Nothin' to base this on except too little past experience Abe, but I'm pretty sure that an equal expanse of aluminum is lighter than an equivilent expanse of carbon fibre. When you get to the beefier, structural, attaching ends, that weight difference would probably increase.
As for the unlikelihood of large, beautifully curved expanses of aluminum, (that require manhandlin' to put in place n' remove) remainin' unblemished . . I don't think that needs any embellishment for any of us. In a perfect world (even one that has Stewie garaged whenever possible) aluminum panels r' somethin' that you've jus' godda accept r' gonna possibly catch damage. Pretty easily. Why they chose to go with the metal? Probably more because it holds paint than because of it's weight savin' advantages. And, yes, this is all another case'a the world accordin' to Java. The reason that they went with aluminum could jus' as likely be because the person who signs the requisition forms isn't exactly sure howda spell fibre, r' maybe they got saki on their favorite tie the night before. The answers to "why" r' jus' way too reason-defyin'. Be well. Java

I went down to my Honda dealer today and asked them if they knew. They said they did not and even called the dealer rep for western Canada. He said he did not know if they where being offered in 2008. What the dealer told me is that April is the last month that a S2000 can be ordered in Canada. He also told me that he can see other 2008 Hondas on his order form in his computer but the S2000 does not appear on the order form at all in a 2008 model. It is a mute point for me, as I want one in Red anyway, and Red is not available in Canada. i am going to have to look for a good used one. |

Rocky, you're sittin' there straight-faced tellin' me that the S2000, manufactured by Honda, a rear-wheel drive roadster . . it isn't available in red?????
That's godda be against every possible law of nature, common sense n' everything else whut's got laws. Wow. That's definitely severely @*#&ed! Black with a red gut might get'cha by. C'mon. It's too good a ride to pass up because your first color choice ain't available. But they ain't got it in red . . . weird. Be well. Java

As I said, I will just have to buy a used Red one. Actually two, because I am going to get one to build for the Bonneville Salt flats. I want to have that project well underway next year and have the car at the flats in '09 for its shake down runs, then 200+ miles per hour in '10. |
