Buying an S2000

Hello

Can anyone help? I'm looking to buy an S2000 and need some advice on whether there are any issues to look out for? or known areas of concern?

I'll probably get one that's around 3 years old with a few miles on the clock, so I'm keen to know as much as I can about them.

cheers, Toby

Welcome Toby !

So, you're lookin' for an 04/05 ? They're out there, just be patient.

Issues - not really. It's a finely made car, one of the few today that's made in Japan. A few yrs ago there was a problem with the synchros, mainly 1st to 2nd. That's all I'm aware of. Maybe long time stewie owners can shed some further light.

I have an 05 and it's flawless.

Toby - It's a great roadster but you better drive it to get a good feel for it.
It's not everyone's cup of tea! That said, I think it's one of the all time best sports car on the road.

,m thinking of selling mine. I dont drive it much anymore. I bought it to replace my 350Z & the S is a much better handeling & quicker car. I have a 2005, with 23000 miles on it. I bought it & put Potenza 050 PP tires on it. I have never had a 4 wheeled motorcycle before & it is a real canyon racer. most people cant keep up with this car on the tight twisty roads. It,s not for everyone- a bit noisey on the freeway with the top up, or i should say its a convertable. It is so much fun to drive I dont want to get out of it.

Toby, you are going to love it. Treat it with respect and learn your limits before you try to learn the cars limits.

tires...make sure you put some good quality rubber on the road. if u buy one earlier than 02' you will get a plastic rear window..this will probably need to be replaced eventually as the plastic will crack. i'm looking into that right now. also the cloth top will show some wear in certain spots and will need to be patched somewhere down the road.(certain spots) hope this helps.
