Honda S2000 Homecoming

Much asked for....much anticipated....and finally it's going to happen!

Honda invites all S2000 owners to a first-ever owner appreciation event to occur Saturday, September 8, 2007 at Honda's North American headquarters in Torrance, California. This event, dubbed "Honda S2000 Homecoming" is intended as a "thank you" to all of the enthusiastic fans of this great car, and it represents a great opportunity to get together with S2000 owners from all over the country! (If they make the drive!)

Here are the basics:

When: Saturday, September 8, 2007 10:00 am-3:00 pm

Where: American Honda Motor Co., Inc. in Torrance, CA

Who: Only S2000 owners will be admitted in their S2000's. You have to drive it to get in. Obviously only one additional guest per car, no trunk riders...please. Please don't show up in your minivan. I'd rather avoid the scene as you're turned away.

What: Everything is Free. Get to see the S2000 CR before it hits dealer lots. Our large parking lot will also fill up with S2000's of all types as owners arrive, creating possibly one of the biggest gatherings of S2000's in the US, dare I say ever. Lunch will be served (hot dogs, hamburgers, etc..nothing fancy). Some cool giveaways will also occur. We may also have some other cool cars on display!

How: Courtesy of American Honda Motor Co. and my impassioned presentation to management!

The registration website is up and running just this morning. It's not perfect as it was purpose built just for this event. You must use your VIN to register and get further details on the event via email. We will send another email out closer to the event with more details. I'm purposely leaving things a little vague to avoid gate crashers. If you register, you will get all the info you need as we approach the event. Just be sure to use a good email address!!

If anyone is coming in from out of town and needs a good hotel in the area, please let me know via PM. I can get you a short list of places to stay around here. For those of you out-of-towners, Torrance is just south of LA in an area called the Southbay. Redondo Beach is a 4 mile drive from Honda. Average temperature here is around 75 degrees year-round, and sunny skies are almost guaranteed in September.

For those of you coming to the homecoming on the 8th of September from the San Diego area, here is the plan for meeting up on the day of the event ... so far.

Vinny and Morgan are meeting at the I 15 / hwy 76 junction at 7:30 am. From there they will meet up with Mike and myself at the Comfort Inn off of the Cal Oaks exit in Murrieta. From there we head up the I 15 to Hwy 74 where we pick up another S owner or two. After that, its through hwy 74 to the I 5 and meet up with Michelle, from there we take the 73 Toll Road so bring quarters! (or your transponder)

We are going this route to avoid the I 5/ 405 junction as I hear from folks that even on weekends this junction is a mess! More to follow as information becomes available. If anyone has any suggestions please chime in.

Due to medical reasons, I've had to cancel this trip.

I'm really going to miss it. Can't hardly drive the S though. Going 1200 miles would kill me. Post some pictures.

Here is the plan as off today for those coming up I 15 from the San Diego / North County area

Meet at the Comfort Inn off of Calif. Oaks & the 15 at 8:00 AM, from there we go up to Hwy 74 where we pick other "S" owners then we take 74 to the 5 to the 73 Toll Road so bring quarters or your transponder.

We are going this route to avoid the 5 / 405 interchange as I have heard from friends living in the South OC that this is a mess even on weekends.

From the 73 its up the 405 to the 110 to Honda's Torrance Facility. If anyone is interested in
meeting up along this route please chime in. See you soon!

There is a possibility that we will be separated into groups by color as we near the Torrance facility.

Great turnout today! I met up with 2 guys at the first meeting spot, then pickedup Morgan in Carlsbad. We picked up a stray Suzuka Blue in Oceanside, a Laguna blue on the 405, and another black one before getting to the Homecoming.

Saw the Honda S2000 CR. I liked it. The color looks much better in person, but I still don't like the rice wing in the back. I love the new rims on it. They also had a restored 1965 Honda S600. Beautiful little car. Cool to see how the car "grew up".

They had some cool raffle prizes. Grand prize for best car won a hardtop and a set of AP2 wheels and Bridgestone RE050's. They also gave away 2 more sets of wheels and tires. I was hoping to win a set, but no such luck. They also gave away 10 copies of original line art of the car signed by the Honda CEO. I won a beach towel, but that was better than the luggage tags won by Morgan and John

I know Morgan loved his

Funniest moment of the day was Morgan being stffed 3 times in line to get an autograph from the Honda CEO who flew in from Japan yesterday just for the event. He finally bowling balled his way through and got a picture with him toward the end.

Worst moment was seeing Nugget's car (from S2KCA) after he rear-ended his friend coming off the freeway o the way to Homecoming. He drove from Colorado. His friend's rear bumper got hit on the corner, but Nugget's car will need the left front fender, front bumper, possibly the left headlight (at least needed to be realigned.

Total attendance - 735 cars

Hi people what a homecoming!I was asking many people if they knew anyone from S2000.com but there were so many cars there it was hard to tell.The response was GREAT and so was the lunch.LOL Meeting the founding father was cool it was like one big family reunion.I would of liked to win the hardtop or some wheels but no such luck,so I was happy with my hat.I liked talking with many cool people there and hope to have it again next year.

Nice pix Morgan! I'll try to post some of mine, though not the ones that look just like yours. I like a lot of the ones you got with details (like the old Honda badge on the red S). The spa yellow with the black stripes was sweet. I wish I'd gotten some interior shots of the custom leather work. Joe (the owner) did the custom work himself. I think he came out from Atlanta. All in all, it was a great event. Hope they do it again next year. I'll make the annual pilgramage to Honda mecca.

We have a great time it's nothing but a bunch of great guys with great attitudes having fun in our S2000s

chazdawg35 Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: simi valley,california Posts: 1,699	Hi people what a homecoming!I was asking many people if they knew anyone from S2000.com but there were so many cars there it was hard to tell.The response was GREAT and so was the lunch.LOL Meeting the founding father was cool it was like one big family reunion.I would of liked to win the hardtop or some wheels but no such luck,so I was happy with my hat.I liked talking with many cool people there and hope to have it again next year.

That homecoming event is going down in history! Tons of people sharing intrests and enthusiasm for the S2000, MAN WHAT A DAY! I like a lot of the ones you got with details (like the old Honda badge on the red S). The spa yellow with the black stripes was sweet. I wish I'd gotten some interior shots of the custom leather work. Joe (the owner) did the custom work himself. I think he came out from Atlanta. All in all, it was a great event. Hope they do it again next year. I'll make the annual pilgramage to Honda mecca. Jimbo

(and anywhere else we find) We have a great time it's nothing but a bunch of great guys with great attitudes having fun in our S2000s We always have the best time!! Our next run will be Sept. 29th it looks like Vinny found a really cool new road to run, we'll have a new member joining us that day also
